[STORY] FOR BETTER FOR WORSE (Episode 01)

Episode 01.

During our courtship we agreed we will never allowed any third party in our marriage. This was because my mom told me how she left my dad because she confided in her sister-in-law who acted like a friend but eventually ruined her ten years marriage with dad.

My mom had been a single mother for twenty years, she refused to remarry after dad left her for another woman. No reasonable woman wants to go through what mom went through while raising us all alone. This and many other stories of the adverse roles of third parties in marriage led to my fear for third parties in marriage.

Victor proved the world wrong, he is a type of man every lady would want to spend her life with. He is handsome, gentle and well to do. Though he is a very jealous guy. I didn’t consider this as a big challenge seeing how much he loved me. Any man will do anything to protect the woman he loves. I love Victor too.

Our first fight happened on our wedding day. Victor has never been this angry in all our thirteen months courtship. Even when he was angry, he was still polite until our wedding day. Our wedding was so colourful, the attendance was awesome, great number of our friends were in attendant.

Jide too was in attendant. Jide was my ex, we couldn’t get marry because we were not medically compatible. We separated not because we quarrelled, but for the future of our children. Jide and Victor had met twice. I arranged the first meeting, the second was coincidental. Victor knew all that happened between me and Jide, because I told him.

Immediately after the presentation of gifts at the reception, he dragged me behind the hall. Why did you let that guy hug you chest to chest? Victor asked me furiously.

I was dumb for seconds, trying to figure out who he was referring to. You claimed he was your ex and you allowed him hug you that way? He screamed to distract my thought. It was then I realized he was referring to Jide. But many people, both male and female hugged me, why are you feeling bad about Jide’s hug? I querred in surprise.

You can’t believe it, Victor landed me a hot slap on right cheek. I couldn’t believe myself, Victor slapped me? A raised my face up and stared at his eyes. Did you just slap me? I asked him. Yes I did and I will do it again, he replied. I rushed out of his sight and ran to meet Aisha, my chief bride’s maid.

She was the only one I could talk to. No one should see me shedding tears on my wedding day, I held my tears until I saw Aisha. She noticed the tears immediately, she held me close to her chest, Anita what happened? Why are you crying? She asked
