[STORY] SADE’S HEART TALE (Episode 06)

Episode 06.

“…he told me that you’re engaged? Who engaged you please because you haven’t introduce anyone to us yet. I said I was going to call you but is a good thing you came. Dapo is a promising young man, actor and MC. Haven’t you heard of MC dapo? He is very popular and rich too. He saw you at the wedding and likes you. Already, I showed him your picture when he asked if I have any beautiful sister that is very single…I showed your picture to him and he likes you and said he will meet you on my wedding day, from there things can kick off. I was shocked that he came here and told me that you’re engaged, he sounded so disappointed. He belittle himself and came to you after you refused going over to meet him, yet after everything you turned him down by using a fake engagement story to push him off…who does that. I try to put sugar in your mouth by connecting you and Dapo but you spit it off. Dapo will make your life sweet and fun filled… you actually don’t know what you’re missing. Girls dream of having a man like Dapo… but you’re always thinking left when everyone is thinking right. Just imagine the man you wanted to be moving with…a commoner, a nobody..teacher. I bet you his salary is not close to the money I pay the new househelp I just employed…”

She pause, waved her hand around her head and snap off her finger in the air with a loud ” olorun ma je” (God forbids.)

She breathed deeply and continued
“… for example if that your teacher friend happened to find one girl that agreed to marry him, how will he pay the bride price and sponsor a wedding? Where will they live after the wedding, in his parents house because he doesn’t have a house of his own and can’t afford to pay rent due to the small pay he gets as salary. what of feeding, his mother will be feeding son and wife which will breed hatred for the girl. I bet you they will hate that girl forgetting that she did him a favor by agreeing to marry him. How will he foot bills if she become pregnant, where will he get money to pay hospital bills, money to care for a baby and wife. Where will he get money to take care of his family or he is going to leave it for his mother? That girl is on a deadly mission and will regret greatly. don’t be surprise if she decides to run away, they will end up tagging her bad. Sade, that girl would have been unfortunately you if not for all the talk we pulled in just to save you. Look at me, I’m comfortable, relaxed and happy in my husband’s house. the case would have been opposite for you if you had continued on that deadly quest with the poor teacher…”

I was quiet all through, she tried to scare me with everything she said but I became more bold and fearless.

Then I shocked her by saying
“I have agreed to marry Ayo, our introduction date is not fixed yet but I will inform you when the time is right. As my elder sister, I just thought is best for you to know first and will appreciate any support you render but in case of none, is still okay by me…”

I stood and get ready to walk out majestically because she may kick me out of her house.

“, You just signed your death sentence with your own hand. You will live to regret it Sade. Let’s bet on it..?

“,I won’t regret anything. As far as is with Ayomide… I’m so confidence I won’t regret a thing. I love and trust him and with God’s help we will be alright…”

I started heading to the door slowly.

“If you’re not bewitched then it means you’ve simply gone nut. Aaah Sade, I see a load truck of suffering with a little touch of severe pain driving down your address. Don’t forget how you were warned, several talks yet you’re proving stubborn. When poverty and trouble from your Ayo’s family hit you hard don’t forget to tell God to send his armies and chariots also they should come with some mannas from heaven because I know you will be very hungry. Hahaha Sade, trouble dey sleep yanga go wakam (proverb) please quietly walk out and tell that your Ayo that he is an unfortunate human being and will continue to be so…”

I left and went straight home. I know my sister Bimpe will tell my parents so I decided to shun fear at once and face them.
That night, after dinner I went to them.
I told them about Ayo bringing his people soon for our introduction.
Just like expected the whole room was thrown into curses and threats and more threats.
I remain silent, as my parents kept ranting non-stop.

“…nobody force me into anything, is all my choice and I’m not changing my mind. Ayomide is the man I want to marry. He has always been there for me and even when everyone gave up on me he believed in me and stood by me. He is a good man and truly God fearing, that all that matters most for me..”

My Mom stood and strike me across the face.

“Sade, You will regret this your choice of a man, watch and see. There is no problem, fix your introduction date and let him come with his people. You will get married and then let’s watch and see what becomes of you..” my mum said and she kept threatening.

My Dad too was not exempted.

They sent me out their presence because even my mare sight was begining to disgust them.

I went back to my room, cry a little, wipe my face and slept off.
With God on my side, I know I won’t regret anything..
I informed Ayo that I have informed my people.
He wanted to know their reaction I told him it was not very funny but I will rather not talk about it.
He immediately understand and did not pest me further.
I was rounding up in my three hundred level, going to fourth year when Ayo said it was time to proceed.

He asked if that was okay by me, I said it was totally fine.
He said days are running with speed and so is years.
age is no longer on his side. He was already 33years and does not want to wait further.
I asked him to go ahead and pick a date, I will go with whatever he said.

He said no, that we are together and I should think of a day that will suit us.

I picked a day and he said he will pray over it first before we start telling people.

I just newly entered my four hundred level in school when we went for our introduction.
My sister Bimpe did not show even though it was a weekend, my family did not look please or happy. They did not pretend or try to hide their displeasure.

Ayo saw and felt the unwelcomed environment but still wore his smile.
my parents just wanted to kick me out to Ayo so that they can watch me suffer.

Introduction did not take time and it was over in no time.
Ayo and his people left.
Our next plan is wedding and I can’t wait to be out of this house because their resentment and insults was becoming unbearable.

I’m happy this first phase is over.
I asked Ayo where we are going to live after getting married? He said his parents house because he can’t afford a place of his own yet.

Bimpe’s words came to play in my head.
I wish he can get a place even if just a small place, I don’t mind.
Living in his family house, I don’t know how that will go.

My fears are not totally erased, it might have reduced after I face my parents but fear of the unknown is what I’m really worried about.
