Marcus Rashford sends classy message to Christian Eriksen

Marcus Rashford has sent a classy message to his Manchester United team-mate Christian Eriksen.

Rashford scored the only goal of the game on Sunday as United beat West Ham 1-0 at Old Trafford, with Eriksen providing a superb assist.

Eriksen whipped a sumptuous cross into the area which Rashford planted emphatically past Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

It saw Rashford become the 22nd player to score 100 goals for United in all competitions and the first to reach that total since Wayne Rooney in 2009.

‘I know a lot has been said about me scoring that header for my 100th club goal but can we take a moment to appreciate the ball from @ChrisEriksen8,’ Rashford posted on Twitter alongside a fire emoji.

Rashford struggled at Old Trafford last season but has returned to form under new boss Erik ten Hag and has scored seven goals across 15 games this term.

He is out of contract at the end of the season but United plan to offer him a new deal before the end of the year to ward off any interest in him from abroad.

Rashford wants to stay at United and is keen on signing a new long-term deal at the club.

Meanwhile, United legends Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo sent messages to Rashford after he registered his 100th goal.

After the win over West Ham, Rashford posted on Instagram: ‘100 goals for this special club!

‘I’ve been here since I was 7-years-old and came through every single age group and played on every single pitch so I want to thanks all the staff, my family and team-mates that have helped make this achievement possible.’

Rooney, who is United’s all-time leading goalscorer with 253, commented on his post and said: ‘Class @marcusrashford. Loads more to come.’

Ronaldo, meanwhile, who has scored 145 goals for United, added a ‘congratulations’ with a clapping emoji.
