Harry Kane allays injury concerns after Tottenham defeats Brighton

Harry Kane has reassured Tottenham fans that his ankle injury is nothing serious after he hobbled off the pitch late on at Brighton on Saturday.
The striker’s headed goal was enough to seal a 1-0 victory for Spurs against the Seagulls, in what was an emotional game for Antonio Conte’s side following the passing of their fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone during the week.
Tottenham, and indeed England fans, were left very concerned in the final few minutes when Kane went down holding his ankle after a bad foul from Alex Mac Allister.
While the Three Lions captain was able to get back on his feet, he was quickly subbed off for Oliver Skipp, leading to speculation that the 29-year-old had picked up an injury at a pivotal time of the season.
Kane was quick to quash these rumours however, telling BBC Sport after the match: ‘The ankle is ok, no twist or anything so I’m pretty sure it’s fine.’
While his ankle will no doubt be assessed on Sunday, it looks like Kane will be in contention for Tottenham’s next game against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The win over Brighton has kept Spurs third in the table, three points behind leaders Manchester City, with their next Premier League game at home against Everton this Saturday evening.

As for Kane, he will be relishing in scoring yet another goal against the Seagulls, having now netted six goals in his last eight league games against the south coast club.
He now has eight goals in the opening nine games of this season, a very impressive tally, though sadly for him nowhere near Erling Haaland’s remarkable 15 in nine matches, with the City striker scoring again in Saturday’s 4-0 over Southampton.
‘Yeah I’ve scored a few goals here [the Amex], it’s a really difficult place to come,’ Kane added.
‘When you’re in good form, sometimes those just hit you and go in.
‘Brighton are a really good side and we had to work hard for the win. We bounced back after the north London Derby defeat and we did that even though it wasn’t the best performance.
‘We just have to take it game by game, we have the Champions League match on Wednesday.’
