Wilfried Zaha responds to Chelsea and Arsenal transfer rumours
Wilfried Zaha insists he is ‘devoted’ to Crystal Palace as he continues to be linked with moves to Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
Zaha is already viewed as a Palace legend having made more than 400 appearances for the south London club across two spells at Selhurst Park.
The Ivory Coast international, who spent two disappointing seasons at Manchester United earlier in his career, is considered one of the best players in the Premier League from outside the top-six.
Zaha scored 14 league goals last season and has continued his impressive form this term, hitting the back of the net five times in 11 games.
Reports claim Chelsea and Arsenal are interested in signing Zaha, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Crystal Palace.
But Zaha has played down the speculation, insisting he is ‘devoted’ to his boyhood club and his focus is purely on performing for Patrick Vieira’s side, who face West Ham on Sunday.
‘How many times have I seen my name next to transfer stuff – I never speak on these things,’ Zaha told Sky Sports.
‘My contract is up when my contract is up and the only thing I am focused on is doing well for the club, that’s it. I take each day as it comes.
‘I don’t know what will happen in the future. I can’t say this is my plan as I’m only fixated on what I’m going to do in training and then on Sunday [against West Ham].
‘I’m very devoted to Palace and that’s all I’m thinking about.’
Meanwhile, Zaha’s former Manchester United manager David Moyes insists the 29-year-old could play for a ‘number of top teams’ but has warned that the ‘grass is not always greener’ as the winger prepares to either sign a contract extension or look for a new club.
Speaking ahead of West Ham’s clash with Crystal Palace, Moyes said: ‘Wilf looks as though he has matured greatly and he could play for a number of top teams, if he chose to do so.
‘Sometimes, when you feel like you’re at home and you are enjoying your surroundings… he is a big player for them and a key ingredient to Palace.
‘From that point of view, the grass isn’t always greener. I have no doubt Wilf could play for many other teams if he chose to do so.’
