[STORY] DEADLY DESIRE (Episode 33)

Episode 33.

Nicole drove home after visiting a spa. These days she was always happy. Before she left home, she gave the maid and security man money to buy something for themselves. She believed that obstacles to her joy had been cleared.

She trusted Pastor Smart to do the needful for her. She drove into one of the street to see her tailor. She had given the tailor clothes to sew and she believed that it would have been ready. Just as she parked beside a house, she saw Itohan and Efosa coming towards her direction. Quickly, she bent low and watched them as they passed her car. They were talking and smiling.

“Aah!, Is that not Itohan? Or is that her ghost or what? No it can’t be. I paid that pastor two million naira to terminate her. My money won’t go like that ooh” She said fuming in anger.

She came down from the car and walked to the tailor’s shop. She met the tailor still working on her clothes. She went back to her car and was about to start it when her phone vibrated. It was a message from Eghosa. She read aloud:

“Good day ma! I know you are well. I am still praying that God will help you surrender to His authority. Please amend your ways. You cannot hold on to another woman’s husband and want God to give you yours. It’s not possible. Repent ma before it’s too late! Stop playing with fire or it will consume you. God wants you to come to him because He loves you with an everlasting love.”

Nicole frowned as she read the message. She dialled the number and waited for it to be picked.

“Hello ma” Eghosa said.

“I told you to stop sending me these kinds of messages but you refused”

“Jesus loves you Boss and…”

“May thunder fire your mouth there. I know Jesus more than you. You know nothing about the name you call. If you send this kind of message again, I will look for you and lock you up. Useless man. May poverty kill you there” She cut the call, placed her head on the driver’s seat and closed her eyes. When she opened her eyes, she drove roughly out of the street.

Nicole got home, wore another clothe, took another car and drove out of the compound again. She headed straight to Pastor Smart’s house, where he has his shrine. She met other people waiting to see him but Nicole was impatient. She kept knocking on the office door. When she entered, she was angry.

“I need my money back” She demanded stretching her hands towards the pastor.

“Calm down and let’s talk”

“There is nothing like calm down oo. You collected my money without killing Itohan. I saw her today. She is full of life. So I am here for my money”

Pastor Smart was angry now.

“That woman is powerful”

“Ooookooo! No problem! Just refund my money!”

He smiled sadly.

“Sorry Nicole! Your money can’t be refunded. I lost more than that money”

“I will lock you up. You are fake and powerless. You can’t collect my money and go free. What kind of a foolish man are you?”

By this time, Nicole had started raising her voice, attracting other people to come in.

“I gave him money to do a job for me, but he ate my money without doing anything”

Pastor Smart watched as Nicole ranted and ranted. He saw her being pacified.

“If I don’t get my money today, I will make sure this place is locked up permanently” She threatened.

She picked her purse and marched out of the office angrily. Pastor Smart dismissed those who came to see him and entered his shrine. He stood before the graven images very angry.

“Nicole has dared me. She had threatened me and said I am not powerful. What is her money compared to my friends I lost. Seven hefty men. She insulted me before other people”

He went to the mirror and removed the black coverage. He took an egg and threw it at the mirror and the image of Nicole appeared. She was in the car driving and making calls.

“Nicole let the spirit of madness swallow you. I Smart decree today, that you will never recover from this madness. Because you have insulted me and embarrassed me, you will not see anything good from Nosa. Both of you will die in madness. Nothing will be able to set both of you free”

He went to one of the pots there, dipped his hand in a red substance and rubbed it on the mirror. He tapped his legs seven times, then turned his back against the mirror and went out.

Nosa peeped through the window. It was evening and Nicole had not returned from where she went to. He looked at the time, it was 4:03pm. He decided to go downstairs to wait for his favorite programme that will start by 4:30pm. He asked the maid to get him water.

“Come here” He called back the maid “Are you mad?”

“No sir!”

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“I am not looking at you sir. I couldn’t have looked at you when I am heading to the kitchen ” the surprised maid defended.

Nosa was already up, removing his clothes. The maid ran into the kitchen and locked the door. He went to the door and started hitting it but the maid refused to open it. Nosa took the flower vase on the table and threw at the television.

He was greatly pleased. By the time he stepped outside, he was half naked. The security man could not hold him, for Nosa’s strength was far greater than his. He was laughing nonchalantly. The security man shook his head sadly as he watched helplessly. Nosa left the compound singing and clapping.

“Aah! Oga don mad oo”

He tried to call Nicole but she wasn’t answering her call.

“I feel so strange” She whispered “I am thirsty too”

She parked her car before a shop. She got down and requested for a chilled bottle water. She stood there and drank everything then requested for another. Nicole paid and returned to her car. She opened the door and her body began to itch her.

She threw her phone on the driver’s seat. Nicole began to scratch her body. She stepped and Passerby began to look at her as scratch her body. She removed her shoes and threw it at a man who was passing by.

By this time, crowd had began to form to see the beautiful woman who had gone mad. Nicole threw her clothes and was totally naked. She began running and everyone looked at her and shook their heads sadly.

“Dem don use this lady do money” Someone said.

“See as she fine”

“God go punish the person wey do this fine lady this thing”

Nicole ran into a nearby market and began to display her madness there.

Immediately Nosa ran out of the house in madness, Itohan felt a kind of strangeness. The plate of rice she was holding fell from her hand. She quickly cleaned up the mess then sat on a stool.

“Nosa wetin dey happen to you?” She asked rhetorically “God where Nosa dey? Wetin dey happen to my husband?”

She stood up to Iya Folake’s house but she had not returned from shop.

“Which kain thing be this”

Just then, Iya Folake returned from her business. They exchanged pleasantries and she helped carry her bag to her house.

“You are worried” Iya said.

“Yes Iya. My body dey do me one kain”

“Hmmm!”

“Something no dey well”

“Have you called your daughter to know how she is?”

“I follow Osas talk today na and she say everything dey fine”

“Iya Efosa. No fear. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of boldness and sound mind. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, where the righteous run into and they are safe. In the day of trouble, when we call upon God, He will answer. I want you to go and table everything before God this very moment.”

Itohan left her and rushed back but met Efosa. She explained how she was feeling.

“What are you waiting for? Let’s pray na”

Both of them went on their knees and began to pray.

“God I nor know wetin dey happen to my husband. Na you dey see everything. Help me…..” She kept praying.
