Episode 50 (Last Episode).

Nicole’s father took Nicole’s hand as he marched her to the altar. While they walked towards the altar, Eghosa kept gazing at her. He had always dreamt that Nicole was his wife and that dream is coming to reality. God worked everything for his good.

For Nicole, she was in a wonderland. She kept pinching herself to ensure she wasn’t dreaming. When she stood before the officiating pastor, she took a glance at the congregation. The small and the great were all seated to witness the occasion.

Who would ever believe that God would settle her after she has past forty years of age? Who would also imagine that the driver would be her husband eventually?

She smiled when Eghosa placed the ring on her finger.

“You may now kiss your bride” the pastor said.

Eghosa threw caution to the wind, as he drew her closer and gave her a long kiss. The congregation clapped and gave a joyous shout.

Nicole’s joy knew no bound. She loves Eghosa and she was so glad she was married to him.

On their wedding night, Nicole refused to remove her wedding gown or sleep.

“I don’t know whether I am dreaming or not. I may sleep and the gown will disappear” She said.

Eghosa laughed hilariously.

“Are you kidding?”

He saw how serious Nicole is.

“You are not dreaming dear. You are married to Eghosa Osahon. I am your husband Nicole. Come here” He said.

He embraced her for a while then helped her to remove her clothes. That night, they consummate their marriage. It was a night Nicole would never forget in a hurry.

———————————–

“Park the car please, I want to buy roasted yam” Nicole told her husband.

He slowed down and parked it.

“Where will you get that at this time?”

Nicole pointed.

“This pregnancy is making you eat anything. This is the forth time I am parking this car today. Apart from my son in this stomach, is there also a tank there?” He asked rubbing Nicole’s protruding stomach.

Nicole laughed and pushed him playfully.

“Before we get home, you’re still going to park six more times” She said rolling her eyes and laughing.

Eghosa drove the car backward and stopped in front of the woman selling roasted yam. He came down and rushed to the other side to open the door for his wife. Holding her purse, Eghosa helped her out of the car.

The aroma of the pepper stew appealed to her. It was Adenike that first recognized Nicole as her husband helped her out of the car. She shouted!.

“Nicole!, Aaah!”

Nicole too was surprised to see her.

“What happened to you?” She asked.
“Why are you roasting yam?. What happened to your job?!” She looked at the baby on Ade’s back.

“This baby is still too young to be under the sun”

Eghosa stood aside as he watched both of them conversing.

“It’s a long story Nicole. When i found out Sebastian was married, I could have quitted the relationship but I didn’t. He promised me heaven and earth. He asked me to quit my job and move into the apartment he rented for me. He also said after I put to bed that he will pay my bride price. I cancelled the wedding program at the church because I told pastor, Sebastian was married. Because I didn’t want pastor to discover that I was pregnant for Sebastian already, I left the church and blocked the pastor and his wife his line from my phone.”

Ade paused to wipe her tears

“I later discovered that the house he took me to was his friends house. He returned from his business trip unannounced and threw me out. I packed my things to his house. He was infuriated that I packed into his house. He wanted to know who showed me his house. He denied me and the pregnancy and kicked me out of his house”

Nicole sighed deeply.

“It’s okay” She said patting her shoulder.

“I thought he loved me. I returned to church and pastor and his wife rented a room for me. This is the business I do to sustain myself. I was too fast. I should have waited for God. I realized late that no one can help God do his job. I just foolishly went ahead of God”

“It’s alright. You can’t undo what has been done”

Nicole embraced her. She selected the yam she wanted and paid, but Ade would not collect the money.

“This is nothing Nicole. I can’t repay you for the love you showed me. When I had accommodation issue, you took me in”

Nicole thanked her for giving her the roasted yam free. Ade saw Eghosa collecting what Nicole bought. She tapped her.

“Is he your husband?”

“Yes”

“He is so handsome Nicole”

Nicole smiled.

“Adenike, God gave me the best”

“I would have waited for my own, but I was in a hurry”

Nicole opened her purse and counted out good money.

“This is not for you, but for the baby”

Adenike thanked her and watch Nicole in tears, walking to the car.

In the car, Eghosa noticed that Nicole was sad. She kept wiping tears from her eyes.

“I want to help her”

“Please do”

“I won’t be at rest knowing she is under the sun with a baby”

Eghosa wiped her tears.

“Don’t withhold good when you are in the position to help” He kissed her and nudged her to go.

Nicole stepped out of the car and walked back to meet the surprised Adenike.

“Pack this up and leave. I will set you up in any business of your choice”

Adenike screamed and hugged Nicole. She kept thanking Nicole.

“Come to the house tomorrow”

When Nicole left, Adenike sat and wept.

“Ooh father, I will not misuse the second chance you have given to me”

The following day, she went to Nicole’s house and Nicole gave her a cheque and the amount amazed her. Nicole also gave her some of her personal belongings because the house was already put up for rent and some of her things are still there.

Today, Nicole is supporting so many poor people, ministries and churches. Her husband is so supportive of all her moves.

A year after her first child was born, she travelled to see her parents. She got wind that Itohan and her family also came to visit their own parents.

Nicole hid in the house for two days until Eghosa encouraged her to do the needful.

With Eghosa by her side, she knocked on the gate and entered the family house. On siting Itohan, she went on her knees and apologized for all the troubles she caused. Itohan too was surprised to see Nicole. She refused to allow past events overshadowed her, so she raised Nicole up and embraced her.

“All are in the past Nicole. I have forgiven you. In anyway I offended you too, I am sorry. They embraced each other.

Nicole was surprised that Itohan changed. She looked polished and could speak good English.

Hand in hand, Nicole and Eghosa walked out of the compound with deep peace in their hearts and fire in their eyes.

– The End.
