[STORY] DEADLY DESIRE (Episode 24)

Episode 24.

Iya Folake was already set for the days business. She was about to leave the house when Itohan knocked and entered the house. She exchanged pleasantries with Iya and took her seat.

“I hope there is no problem? You know I would check on you before leaving”

“I know my sweet mama” Itohan said “I come ask whether you go fit allow me dey fry Akara and buns for front of the compound”

“Aah! To start business? Itohan you just born and you never strong like that” Iya said.

“I don strong mama. I don wash this morn….”

“Shut up my daughter. You don’t know what you are saying. You need to heal internally. You need rest. Don’t gamble with your life” She said.

Itohan started crying.

“I don’t have money again” She cried.

“I thought as much. No sane woman would try such”

Both of them sat quietly for a while.

“My daughter, I will allow you make use of the space for your business, but it is not going to be now. I want you to be physically fit first. As for money, I don’t have much but I will talk to my children to see how we can support you until you are able to stand on your own again. Itohan left her seat and knelt before Iya Folake. She wept until Iya raised her up.

“Don’t knee before me again. I am not God. I learnt early in life to stretch my hands to those who need my help. God has never ever withhold help from me”

She left Iya to her house and still wept there.

“If nor be this woman wey you put for my way, people for don dey laugh me. Oh Jesus! You too good”

When Iya Folake returned from her business that evening she entered Itohan’s house and told her the decision she reached with her children.

“I and my children will support you until you are strong enough to start your business. Tomorrow, money will be handed to you”

Itohan kept genuflecting for she was overwhelmed by the show of love. Efosa was not left out too. He prostrated and Iya asked them to stand.

“So human being dey like this” Itohan said after Iya had left her house

“God I wan be help to people, help me make I fit reach people wey no get. Me and this mama no dey speak the same language. We no come from the same village or dey answer the same name, but see the way she treat me like sey I be her pikin”

Itohan entered into prayers and she told God to bless Iya Folake and her children.

Nicole had been in the delivery room. She was in labour. For the past hours she has been screaming. Nosa was with her in the hospital. The hospital she registered was a top notch.

After Dr Daniel’s confrontation with Nosa, he discouraged Nicole from registering for antenatal there.

“Push” The doctor said.

Nicole pushed and delivered a baby boy. The doctor handed the baby to a nurse. Then he asked her to push for the placenta to come out. As she pushed another baby boy followed.

“Twins. Two boys” The doctor announced.

When the news was broken to Nosa, he laughed so loud. He was happy. He rushed into the delivery room and kissed Nicole. After Nicole had been attended to, she requested for her phone and started making calls. Then she asked Nosa to snap them.

Nicole’s joy knew no bound. She posted all the pictures on Facebook and Instagram. So many calls came in to congratulate her.

The next morning after Nicole had slept very well, she was feeling excited. She was proud. She had not only taken Nosa from Itohan, she had succeeded in giving him two handsome boys.

“Everything is coming in double” She told herself.

That very morning, she checked her post on Facebook and she was pleased by the comments from family and friends. Some of her friends queried her for getting married without inviting them.

“When I am strong enough, my next plan is to get married. It has to be big” She told herself.

Feeling mischievous that morning, she asked Nosa for his phone and then dialled Itohan’s line. After two rings, Itohan picked the call.

“I have won again” She told Itohan “I have not only taken back my man, I have bore him two boys. I will continue to win while you….” Before she could continue Itohan cut the call.

“Illiterate woman. I am sure it was juju she used to snatch Nosa from me. I have used a pastor cum native doctor to reclaim him” She laughed and handed the phone to Nosa who sat on the chair like a dummy.

“Get me food to eat Nosa. You sometimes act like a fool. Don’t you know I will eat? Go home and prepare something for me jare”

“Alright ma”

He tried to peck her before going but she gently pushed him away and he left.

Nicole touched the faces of her sons and laughed.

“I have won” She whispered.

Itohan was coming out of the bathroom when that call came. Efosa had just left and her baby was asleep. She was not surprised that it was Nicole that called. It has been almost three months since she delivered. Iya Folake had told her the ordeal she went through. She had also encouraged her to pray warfare prayer.

“Your husband may have reacted to you because of the influence of juju or charm. He may have been manipulated, but I tell you today that it is only Jesus that can set him free. Pray for him Itohan”

“I no pray for am oo. Make he pray for himself”

Iya had laughed.

“Do you love him at all?”

“God know sey I love am too much”

“Then you must pray for him”

“Hmmm!”

“Yes, you must begin to stand up for him. Pray that whatever juju or charm or spell working against him should break”

Itohan was amused.

“So na me go pray for am after all the things wey he do me?”

“Forgive him. I have told you to forgive him completely. Let go of all the grudges”

“E no easy the way you talk am”

“I know my daughter. But if you want to see result of your prayers, you must forgive him. You also need the help of the Holy Spirit”

“Who be Holy Spirit?” She asked confused.

Iya laughed and began to tell her. Understanding dawned on her. Iya Folake would not leave her alone. Everytime she had the opportunity, she would preach and preach and then encourage Itohan. Being an inquisitive person, Itohan would ask so many questions.

She even introduced Itohan to midnight prayer.

“It’s very effective”

Having been convinced, she started praying for Nosa. Initially it was difficult, but it soon became easy. She refused to dwell in the past hurt and focus on the good side of Nosa.

So, listening to Nicole didn’t break her or make her cry. She only laugh when she cut the call and drop the phone on the table.

“I get better things to think of, no be Nicole”

The day Nicole was to be discharged, she woke up very early to discover that one of the baby was very white while the other wasn’t breathing well. She drew the attention of a nurse.

“Aah! This one is not breathing oo! Did you lie on them” She asked Nicole.

“Noo! How can I” She said trembling “Call doctor”

“Doctor is not around”

“Please call the doctor, if anything happens to my children, I will sue you”

The nurse began to make calls. Nicole picked her phone and informed Nosa who drove like a mad man to the hospital. The doctor came quiet alright but it was too late, the two children had already died.

Nicole screamed

“What happened to my children? Tell me oo!”

Because of the way she was behaving, she was sedated. She spent three more days in the hospital. The doctor could not actually say what happened to the twins.

For Nicole, she was unconsolable. After she was discharge, Nosa was by her showing her love. She would start the day in tears and end it in tears. She went to Facebook and Instagram and deleted all the pictures of the children she posted.

One day, she told Nosa she knew what happened to the children.

“Itohan killed my children. She was jealous of my twins and she killed them”

“I know she can do such” Nosa said

“I am going to make her pay. I will kill her. Her death will be gradual but painful”

“Go ahead Nicole, if it will make you happy” He told her

That evening, Nicole wailed and began to curse Itohan and her children.
