Google Photos gets AI-powered presets and new editing tools
Share this post:

Recently, AI-backed features were added to Google Photos’ video editing capabilities, which will enhance the user experience for both iOS and Android users of the Photos app. The modifications may take some time to take effect, so if you’re not seeing them right now, you should update the app (if you haven’t already), give it another shot, and perhaps give it a few more days.

A new Auto enhance button, a new Speed tool, and an enhanced trim tool are among the updates coming to Android smartphones. Now, the most used tools are at the front and center. Video presets powered by AI are coming to both iOS and Android platforms. These presets enable automatic video trimming along with single-tap lighting and speed control. Additionally, they offer advanced effects like subject-focused dynamic motion tracking and the ability to convert entire videos or sequences into slow-motion videos.

The video editing tools mentioned above can be found in a new tab, which is labeled Presets and is located under the video timeline. Since Google Photos is also available for Wear OS and via the web, those versions might get some AI goodies in the coming weeks as well, but Google has not mentioned anything about such a thing in the post regarding the changes mentioned above.

Those getting started with Google Photos might want to check out James Bernstein’s Google Photos Made Easy: Preserving and Sharing Your Memories, which is free with Kindle Unlimited ($8.99 to buy), $13.99 in paperback form, and $19.99 when choosing the hardcover version.
