Black Panther: Wakanda Forever: All you need to know from runtime, plot and post-credit scene

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is finally in cinemas, after a long wait for Marvel fans.

The sequel to the celebrated superhero film, which starred the late Chadwick Boseman, was given a release date of November 11 what seems like forever ago.

But the reviews are now in for Black Panther 2 – and they are overwhelmingly positive.

But while the film is out now, some fans may have more questions before they pack into theatres.

So, what is the Black Panther run time, what is it about and what happens in the post-credit scene?

What is the Black Panther 2 run time?

In recent years, Marvel films – and movies outside the franchise – have become longer, fitting an action-packed story into a run-time longer than two hours.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever follows this tradition, with a run-time of two hours 41 minutes, or 161 minutes.

It’s longer than the original Black Panther movie, which came in at two hours 14 minutes.

What is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever about and who is in the cast?

Marvel released the full synopsis for the Black Panther sequel during this year’s Comic Con, along with a trailer showcasing what fans can expect from the film.

The official synopsis reads: ‘In Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.

‘As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.’

The trailer, meanwhile, gives a glimpse at a mysterious character, who appears to be a woman, donning a new Black Panther suit which fuelled speculation that Shuri, or even another female character such as Okoye or Nakia will become the new Black Panther.

There was also a glimpse of Wakanda’s new villain Namor, the underwater king of Atlantis.

What happens in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever post-credit scene?

Warning: spoilers ahead.

As every Marvel fan knows, the post-credit scene at the end of each film is almost exciting as the main event itself, as it can provide major teasers for crossovers or new characters.

However Black Panther: Wakanda Forever does things a bit differently, with no post-credit scene and instead a secret scene in the middle of them, with Rihanna’s Lift Me Up playing in the background.

And instead of teasing a crossover or upcoming movie, it acts as an epilogue to the main event.

Black Panther 2’s mid-credits scene sees Shuri visit Nakia on a beach in Haiti, where Nakia introduces her to a new character – T’Challa… named after his late father.

We learn the late King had kept his son hidden and away from Wakanda to have a normal life, however he eventually met Queen Ramonda and could still, some day, take his place as King.
