[STORY] DEADLY DESIRE (Episode 16)

Episode 16.

Nosa welcomed Uyi into his house. They shook hands. Uyi was invited to take a seat and Nosa entertained him with drinks. He asked of Itohan, but was told she went for her business and will soon be back.

“It has been a while Nosa” Uyi said.

“You don’t care about me”

Uyi laughed

“I care Nosa , that is why I am here. To see you” He gulped more beer and dropped empty cans on the table.

While they were immersed in their conversation and laughing, Itohan entered. She walked to her husband, pecked him and entered the kitchen.
Taken aback by Itohan’s action, Nosa stood up and went to the kitchen. He met her putting the kettle on the gas cylinder.

“You didn’t even greet Uyi? Why would you do that? He asked.

“Go ask am. E know why I no greet am and I no fit greet am” She said.

Surprised, he looked at her, then returned to the sitting room and began to ask Uyi questions.

“Aah! I don’t know why she didn’t greet me. My friend, greeting is not by force” He responded.

“Yes, greeting no be by force” Itohan said as she stood beside her husband. Nosa, Uyi no be your friend. Na wicked man”

Nosa only starred at Itohan.

“Because I go meet am for shop say you no dey come house, make him help me find out where you dey work, e com dey press my yansh”

“What?”

“Yes, this stupid man press my yansh” she shouted.

Uyi sensing trouble stood up immediately. Nosa didn’t give him any room for explanation or defend himself, he rushed him. They fought, with Itohan screaming. She could not separate them because of her pregnancy. She ran to the security man for help.

“I only press her yansh and you are fighting me” Uyi said laughing with his swollen lips.” What of Nicole that you have been having affairs with?” He queried.

“The same Nicole you rejected. All your money is from her”

Nosa was tongue tied. It was as if the ground should open and swallow him. Itohan looked at her husband and Uyi. She was waiting for him to deny the allegation.

“Talk na! Tell me say Uyi dey lie” She said.

“The same Nicole I have enjoyed” Uyi continued laughing wickedly.

Uyi picked his shoe that flew from his leg and was about to flee when Nosa rushed him again. The security man tried to separate them. Uyi succeeded in moving to the door. He paused and looked at Itohan.

“From my source, Nicole is pregnant for your husband”

He banged the door so loudly as he rushed out of the house. Itohan shifted her attention from the door to her husband.

“Oya start to talk, I dey wait ” She said sitting on one of the chairs.

“So na Nicole house be the work wey you tell me sey you get? You do P.A job so tey you come give her belle, abi?”

Nosa didn’t comment on anything she said. He knew she was hurting badly and Itohan kept talking.

In that state, Efosa returned from school and met his mother crying and the house upside down.

“Your father don give another woman belle” She announced to Efosa.

The boy was enraged but kept quiet . He started arranging the house. Itohan stood up and went to the room. She cried and refused to be consoled. She could not believe that Nosa would betray her. Nosa sat by her and kept apologizing but Itohan wasn’t listening. She wept. She refused to eat or drink. Nosa began to panic.

After two days of tears and starvation, she encouraged herself. She picked the broken pieces of herself. She would wake and would not greet or pray with him. They lived like strangers. Whenever she knees to pray, Nosa would join but as soon as she sense him, she would stop the prayer. Itohan was infuriated. She wore a sad expression on her face. She refused to talk with him or touch his money.

Even when there was no program in the Church, Itohan would go and sit there. She would cry and cry before returning home. It was hard for Nosa to watch his wife become a shadow of herself. So he decided to do the needful.

Nicole walked into her duplex and met Nosa sitting comfortably on the chair. She was excited. As soon as Nosa saw her coming, he stood up. Nicole ran into his arms and began to cry. She told him how much she missed him.

“I am happy you are back” She said. ” How have you been”

“Well I am fine” He said smiling.

She held his hand so they could go upstairs but Nosa declined and Nicole frowned.

“What is it?”

“I am sorry Nicole. I can’t continue this relationship. I have a lovely wife and children and I cannot….”

Several slaps landed on Nosa’s face. He was so surprised by her audacity.

“After close to two months, you came here to break my heart?”

She sat on the chair and began to cry. Nosa sat beside her and began to talk softly to her. She entered into his arm and began to kiss him. Nosa too began to respond to her kisses and touch.

“Can’t you see I love you Nosa? Don’t leave me please. See I am carrying your child”

She took his hands and placed on her stomach, but Nosa withdrew his hands immediately. Nicole stood too, she held on to him gently as she pleaded.

“I can’t continue this affair. It’s wrong from the beginning.”

“You have rejected me twice” She sobbed.

“I am sorry” He couldn’t stand her tears too.

“You have broken my heart twice” She said again.

Nosa gently removed her hands from his clothes and walked away. He heard her scream and cry. He saw the maid and Eghosa rushed towards the door but kept walking fast until he was out of the compound.

He entered his car and drove off. He was sad. Nosa drove home amidst tears.

Itohan was on the dinning table for supper, when Nosa entered the house. He pulled a chair opposite her and sat. She didn’t greet or raise her head to look at him.

“I am sorry for putting you through this” He said. “I am coming from Nicole’s house. I have ended the affair. Forgive me Itohan” He tried to touch her hand but she withdrew them immediately.

“At least say something. Your silence is killing me. Please, I betrayed your trust and the love you have for me. Accept me again, Itohan please”

Nosa stood up and went on his knees.

“Please Itohan. This will never happen again. I will always be with you”

Without looking at him, Itohan dropped her spoon, stood up and left the dinning room with her husband still on his knees.

Nosa returned to the chair and wept. He has lost the love of his wife and the affair with Nicole has ended.
