[STORY] MY INFERIOR HUSBAND (Episode 20)

Episode 20.

I tried calling my mother to ask about her whereabouts and that of my son but she would not pick it. Ikechukwu’s mother was calling me and I could not pick her call because I knew I could not give her my baby . I thought it was going to be easy but as the day came I knew it was not going to be easy .

I decided not to visit Ikechukwu’s mother and texted her that I could not give up my son to her ,that I wanted to see my son grow up with me and wanted to give him a better upbringing. She was angry I could refused her offer and told me she was ready to increase the money offer if I thought it was small . I was tempted with the amount she was willingly to offer but I knew accepting such amount mean I would never see my son again.

I finally summoned the courage and told her I was not interested in her money and this infuriated her more and told me this was the end of her or her family sending any money for Elijah upbringing. I accepted and told her I could take care of my son’s responsibility without anybody interference which I truly mean.

I was relived when my mother called me the following week that she already took her grandson with her to her husband’s house as she saw I was becoming an irresponsible mother with no affection for a child that came out of her. I was disappointed because of what she said but that was the truth. I told her I already rejected the offer and promised to care for him henceforth. My mother was happy but told me, he was going to be living with her henceforth and I can visit him whenever I felt like.

I decided to go out and look for a new job since my son was already with my mother and this was an opportunity for me to raise up and reshaped my life as I had an extra responsibility to care for.

I got a job two months after and this enabled me to send money home for the upkeep of my son as I did not bother taking Elijah from my mom. I decided to forget about men as I was wiser than before.

I was so occupied with my work so as to give my son a better life and prove to ikechukwu and his family that we could exist without their help. It was hard at first but with time and my parents efforts, I got more comfortable.

Ikechukwu never bother asking or calling but I cared less and life continued.

Elijah was two years and was still living with my parents when I decided to try giving relationship another opportunity .

Most of my relationship crashed immediately they heard I had a son . Men were not ready to date single mothers because they were scared of taking care of other people responsibility .This became a source of concern for me as age was no more on my side.

I would always complain to my mother about my inability to be in a relationship but my mother assured me I would get a man that will accept me for who I am . I doubted but what could I do,I could not force any man to marry me.

Money was no longer a problem by this time as I was really successful in my job and I was helping other women so as to keep myself busy.

Men were coming but to find one serious one that was ready to settle with a single mother was the hard part as I could not deny my son all because I wanted to get married.

Even men that stayed were either interested in my money or the other thing and usually disappear once they have gotten what they needed. I decided to play smart and stop telling them I had a son .I was desperate to marry by now because I was aging gradually and I need a man in my life desperately, a mistake most women make.
