[STORY] HIS GIFT, YOUR LIFE (Episode 02)

Episode 02.

Simeon got back home in shock. He still couldn’t understand what his friend just put him in and he only has two days to think about it.

“Will he kill me if I say no? For Christ’s sake, what will they ask me to give out in exchange when nothing goes for nothing? Jesus! Simeon exclaimed leaving the sofa to sit on the floor and his wife entered.

“You’re back? I came home earlier and didn’t find you at home, what’s wrong? Your face looks horrible” His wife asked and he cleaned his face.

“Nothing, I guess the drink is still working maybe” Simeon replied.

“At almost 11 am? Did you take the whole crates as if you’ve never drank before?” She asked and he angrily looked at her.

“What is that supposed to mean? Are you trying to say I can’t afford to buy myself a drink if I want?” Simeon asked.

“It does not seem that way to me because you drank yourself to a stupor and I hate it when you look that way in front of my kids, you made them scared yesterday” his wife replied.

“Enough! So what if I was drunk? Deal with it!” Simeon shouted and attempted to stand up.

“Wow! I hope with this scream of yours you have the money you promised to give me today right? Going out with your rich friend you can’t come back empty-handed, so where’s the money?” His wife asked stretching her palm.

“What money?” He asked looking at her.

“Have you forgotten today’s date? Remember you told me to get some amount of money from a friend, what’s up with that?” She asked back.

“Oh please! I will pay, there’s a wedding coming up next week just leave me alone!” Simeon shouted.

“You must be joking, you promised!” His wife shouted and he got into the bedroom while his wife followed behind.

Hours later his children returned from school and met him as he tried working on the pending jobs he had.
“How are you, my sweetheart? Still sick?” He asked carrying his daughter and touching her neck.

“No daddy, what happened yesterday?” His daughter asked.

“Yes daddy, you got us scared yesterday and we could not greet you in the morning before leaving for school” his first son added and he rolled his eyes.

“That’s right and daddy is sorry okay? I was sick yesterday that’s why it won’t happen again okay” Simeon said touching them.

“Sorry daddy, when next you get sick mommy will take care of you,” his daughter said and he smiled.

“Sure my baby, are you good now?” He asked and she nodded.

“That’s good, go in and take off your uniforms okay,” He said keeping her down and they left to the room.

“By the way where’s your mother?” Simeon asked.

“She’s taking the clothes outside” they replied inside.

“No problem, take off your uniforms easy okay,” he said and a message dropped on his phone.

He picked up the phone and read the text;
It’s tomorrow, don’t forget I was to travel soon, be wise” he read from his friend and he breathed out.

“Tomorrow? What happened to the two days? Oh shit!” He exclaimed and worriedly closed his laptop.

That night he could not sleep as he lay in bed thinking about the decision he will make. He didn’t know who to talk to either and he was scared knowing he can’t back out now their secret is out to him.

He slowly left the bed to the sitting room where his children do sleep and looked as they slept soundly. He can’t afford to lose any of them even if he’s asked to choose from the 3. He weakly sat on the couch sobbing quietly and slept off.

The next morning he hurried off to deliver the pending jobs he had and when he got back home, his friend drove in.
“Hey what’s up!” His friend cheered stretching his hand for a shake but Simeon violently held him on the wall.

“How dare you! Is that what you can introduce me to? I’m very sure if it was an opening of a big company you wouldn’t have told me about it!” Simeon shouted at his face and he pushed him off.

“You should be grateful that I am doing you a favor, how many men has this opportunity?” His friend asked.

“I don’t want it! I love my family!” Simeon shouted.

“And what about them? Are you not doing this for them? Don’t you want to see them happy going on vacations outside the country and going to luxurious schools?” His friend asked.

“Who told you they are not happy?” Simeon asked with eyes red and his friend laughed and took the family photograph looking at it.

“Your children are so lovely, sadly they are managing to sleep on the cold floor every night, tell me why they won’t fall sick?” His friend asked and Simeon closed his eyes.

“Stop mocking me and stop pretending as if you care. If you are then you’ll present better options to me, you can loan me some money and I’ll refund it back to you” Simeon said and his friend laughed.

“Are you kidding me? Is that how addicted you are to loans that you can’t see the big river full of fish I am presenting to you? Look, Simeon, it’s better to get hold of the root that holds the source of money rather than looking unto the branches when you can have the whole tree for yourself. Your family is secured, I assure you that” his friend seriously said hitting Simeon’s chest as he weakly looked at him.

“My family is secured? You better be sure about that” Simeon said to him.

“Now let’s be going,” His friend said.
