BEHIND CHURCH DOORS Story - ANE Story

Episode 40.

– MISSY –

Two months, that’s how long I have been working for Pattern of life church and to say I am disgusted with what happens behind these church doors would be an understatement. The congregants over here are brainwashed, they can’t see beyond Bishop Kingsley’s lies. He is like their God, they are so attached and very obsessed with him.

I have attended a couple of his sermons and most of them are in the same fashion- money, prosperity, miracles. This man doesn’t even preach about salvation.

And people are always giving huge amounts of money for different things, enriching this con man they call a Bishop while expecting blessings to come from a pat on the head and water and oil being sprinkled on their faces.

Just the other week, I witnessed a woman give her plot to the church because the Bishop told her that was the only way she could receive healing for her child.

It’s not just Bishop Kingsley but most of the pastor’s in the pattern of life church are womanizers, liars, cheaters, and the opposite of everything the Bible teaches.

There’s just so much happening and as soon as I am done with gathering my information and evidence, I will bring everything to light.

When I came to this church, my main purpose was to investigate pastor G and gather evidence about the type of man he is so he could be exposed. I had no idea he and the Bishop are the same. Now I don’t know how to break the news about Bishop Kingsley to Sophia.

She obviously thinks her father is an honest man of God, when she finds out what he has been doing she will be broken.

And then there is his wife, the backbone behind the church. From what I have gathered she knows the kind of man her husband is yet she refuses to leave. When he messes up, she cleans up and makes sure his reputation remains intact.

I have interacted with that woman a couple of times- beneath that smile and confidence, she is broken. I will interview her when I am ready to go public.. I know it won’t be easy to break through her but it will be worth a try.

Today is Monday and I am on my way to work. I am a few minutes late as usual, I had such a busy morning trying to organize everything for this afternoon’s interview. I asked the Bishop if I could have the afternoon off and he accepted. He thinks I will be going to the hospital for medical checkups but in reality I have an interview with the mother of his last child.

It’s 8:30 when I finally walk through the church entrance and Tia is frowning as usual. Tia has never liked me since day one and it seems her hate for me keeps getting worse by the day.

She is one of those who is obsessed with the Bishop. I found out she was his lover and he dumped her when she got pregnant. This one time she marched into the office and asked if she could talk to him in private, I politely walked out but made sure the recorder in my bag was on. That was how I found out the two had been lovers. Tia has been begging him to take her back.
It’s such a shock that a woman like her would be all over a married man like Bishop when she has a handsome young man like Zyair.

Being an undercover investigative journalist keeps me on my toes, I do a lot of research and investigations. It wasn’t hard for me to know about Tia’s husband and the kind of man that he is.

He seems to love and adore her, I feel for him, when this blows up in public he will be badly injured too. I wish I could protect him from all this but this is just work for me.
“Late as usual,” she clicks her tongue.
“Good morning Tia.”
She rolls her eyes, “what’s so good about the morning? Why are you always late?”
“I can see someone woke up from the wrong side of the bed.”
“You are so incompetent, I wonder why Bishop K hasn’t fired you already.”
“Sweetheart I am not your competition.”
“What is that even supposed to mean?”
“I don’t want him.”
“And who said I want him?”
“It’s written all over your face. You are in love with this man.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“A piece of advice from woman to woman, this man is married and so are you. Leave him alone and focus on making your marriage work.”
“You don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Let those who have ears hear. Just remember that when you play with fire, it eventually burns you.”
Smilingly I walk into the office and place Bishop’s breakfast in front of him.
“My sweet Missy!” He smiles.
“Come and give daddy a hug.”
“Oh lord,” I mumbled inwardly before walking to him. He wraps his arms around me and I feel disgusted.
“You are so beautiful,” he mumbles.
I quickly pull away from him. He has been making passes at me and I have been ignoring them.
“I said you are beautiful,” he says.
“Thank you,” I say, then I sit down at my desk and turn the computer on.
“And thank you for the food so what time will your doctor’s appointment end?”
“I am not sure. Why?”
“I would like to take you out.”
“Take me out? As in a date?”
“Not really a date but I would love to treat you out for dinner and appreciate the work you do here.”
“Oh. Is that like dinner for you and I alone or will Pastor Ruth join us too?”
“Just you and i.”
“I see.”
“I have been praying for you and the lord has been speaking to me a great deal about you.”
“And what has the lord said about me?”
“We will discuss that over dinner.”
“Okay. Where are we having dinner from?”
“Is it okay if I send my driver to pick you up from your place?”
“Can’t I drive myself there?”
“It’s safer to have my driver pick you up.”
“Okay. You give your driver my number and I will tell him where he can pick me up later in the evening.”
“Great. I can’t wait to privately dine with you. And please dress to kill.”
“And who am I going to be killing exactly?”
I ask, irritated.
He laughs, “you are funny.”

I let it slide because I don’t want to expose myself not just yet.
“Pastor’s Ruth’s birthday is in a few weeks and the church wants to do something for her. I would like you to be in charge of her birthday planning committee,” he says a couple of minutes later.
“Oh great.”
“I will add you to the group.”
“Okay. So your schedule for the day- you have a zoom meeting with pastor Jeremiah at 09:00. Then a meeting with mother’s who want their babies to be dedicated at 10:00. Lunch with pastor Ruth and the women’s fellowship group.”
“Is that all?”
“Yes.”
“What’s the venue for lunch?”
“Pastor G’s house.”
“Okay great.”
To Be Continued….. . . . .
