[STORY] BEHIND CHURCH DOORS (Episode 45)
Episode 45.
SOPHIA
“What is all this Missy?” I ask, trying to process everything she has just shown Ryan and I. I have always know my father isn’t a saint but to find out he is a womaniser and a murder, a liar and a fake man of God is too much to handle. This was the last thing I expected to hear when I asked Missy to join Pattern of Life Church. My focus was on getting back at Pastor G and not exposing my father’s dirt.
“I have gathered information about Pastor G also that we will use to pin him down but the one against your father is overwhelming. That’s the reason why I focused my investigations against him.”
When Pastor G killed my baby I expected my parents to put him behind bars and expose him for his dirty deeds but they took his side instead of mine. I didn’t understand then why they favoured him and wanted this issue to be forgotten but now it all makes sense. My father is not different from Pastor G, he is actually worse, a woman died trying to abort his pregnancy. What sort of human being is he?
“Oh lord,” my legs suddenly feel weak and trembly and I lean against the door for a moment to keep from falling.
“You are okay?” Ryan asks.
“I just need a moment to think.”
“I think you should sit down,”Missy says.
“I will bring you some water,” Ryan says before disappearing into the kitchen.
I sit down and he returns a minute later and hands me the water which I drink in one gulp.
“So I have a younger brother?”
“Yes. Kondwani.”
“Did you get to meet him?”
“I did but I didn’t feature him in the documentary.”
“And my mother knows about all this?”
“Yes she does.”
“I don’t even know what to feel.”
“It’s understandable.”
“What is going to happen next? Social media is already buzzing with news of my father’s arrest over the sexual harrasment charge.”
“My team and I are currently trying to get all the witnesses in a safe place. After that is done we are going public with all this. Then charges will be pressed aside from the one I have already pressed. Then we shall go to court where the evidence we have will be presented. I am sorry to tell you this but the evidence is overwhelming and if your parents are found guilty they will be locked up for many years.”
I close my eyes and take a deep breath,” this is a mess.”
“I know it is and if you aren’t comfortable to testify against them, I will understand.”
“I will testify. They are my parents and I love them but if they are guilty then they should pay for their crimes. I feel so bad for the family that lost their child because of abortion. I feel bad for the many women that were sexually abused by my father and his curtail. We are doing this, justice has to prevail.”
“Thank you.”
“This won’t be an easy fight. Your father has a huge following and those people are loyal. You know I have just deactivated my social media accounts temporarily because they keep insulting me and threatening to deal with me if I don’t drop the case.”
I shrug,” talk about touch not the anointed.”
“Are you even safe in this house? How did they even know you are the one that got him arrested?”
“I don’t know but I am safe. I have security 24/7 so if anyone tries to harm me it will backfire on them. Also I won’t be in this house for long, I will be picked later in the evening, don’t worry about me.”
“Okay.”
“Do you think your parents would harm you? As one of our witnesses would you also want to be kept with the others?”
“I think I am okay.”
“You are sure?”
“Yes.”
There’s a knock on her door just then and we exchange glances before she signals for Ryan and I to head to the bedroom.
“Don’t come out until I tell you so.”
“Okay.”

MISSY
When the coast is clear, I walk to the door and pull it open. Pastor Ruth is standing in front of me, I have been expecting her. I knew she would find her way to me.
She clears her throat,” Hello.”
“Hello Pastor Ruth.”
“Can we talk?”
“Sure?” I step aside and ask her in before leading her into the living room. Manny is sitting on the couch typing away on his phone.
“I would like to talk to you in private,” she says.
“Okay, we can talk from my office. It’s this way,” I say. There’s a camera already set up in my home office. As we head towards the hallway, she pauses at my wedding photo.
“You didn’t say you were married.”
“Did you ask?” I flaunt the ring on my finger. I can finally wear it.
“You told my husband you were single and financially struggling but this house doesn’t look like it belongs to someone who is poor.”
I smile as I open the door and ask her in.
“What can I do for you?” I ask as we settle down.
“Who are you?”
“Missy.”
“I know that already and don’t try to play damn with me. I know someone paid you to come to our church.”
“Are you able to prove those allegations?”
“Let’s not even waste each other’s time. How much do you want? You name it,” she removes her cheque book from the bag and places it on the table.
“And who said I want your money?”
“What else would you want?”
“I don’t want your husband’s money.”
“So what do you want?”
“To get him arrested for all his crimes.”
“And you think you will succeed?”
“Why do you do this?” I ask.
“Do what?”
“Clean up after Kingsley.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“You know that your husband is a womanizer. You know that he caused the death of some young lady after forcing her to abort you also know the number of women he has sexually molested. Why do you always cover up for him?”
“You are speaking nonsense.”
“And the child he has with a former member of your church? Kondwani?” I ask.
“What are you talking about?” She stands up.
“You know what I am saying.”
“Tell me how much you want and let’s get this over and done with.”
“Money is not the issue here. What I need is for you to speak out. Let the world know who this man is. You can’t keep doing this to yourself. He doesn’t even love you.”
“You want me to turn against my husband? Would you do that if roles were reversed?”
“You are asking if I would report my husband for murder and defilement. Yes I would.”
“You don’t know what you are talking about.”
“You still have time to turn him in. We can protect you and make sure you don’t get arrested alongside him.”
“I am not doing any of that.”
“Then leave my house. We shall meet in court.”
“You don’t want the money?”
“No.”
“This means war.”
“Bring it on.”
She grabs her cheque book and puts it back in the bag then looks at me for a moment and walks out.”
