Episode 53 (Last Episode et Epilogue).

PACEY

Lying in bed, exhausted after a passionate love making session, Zyair’s phone begins to ring. He is in the bathroom taking a shower so I grab the phone to check who is calling. When Tia’s name flashes on the screen, I frown and roll my eyes wondering why she is calling him this late. Doesn’t she know that Zyair is a married man now and she needs to stay away from him now and stick to the boundaries we have set. I let the phone ring until the call ends. When it rings for the second time without being answered, she drops a text and I instantly open it,” Hey, I am sorry for calling this late, I just wanted to inform you that Ivan is unwell, we are currently at the hospital and they have admitted us. If you can please come over and get him some juice and water on your way here. Let me know as soon as you see this.”

Rolling my eyes, I delete the text and turn the phone off before placing it back on the table. I will not allow my husband to drive to the hospital this late to attend to Tia and her brat. It’s not my fault that she messed up her marriage and lost Zyair to me.
“I thought you would be sleeping by now,” Zyair says when he walks out of the bathroom.
“I couldn’t sleep without you in bed.”
He smiles,” Say no more.”
He quickly dries himself, applies lotion and joins me in bed. Wrapping his hands around my waist, he pulls me near his chest.
“Goodnight babe, I love you.”
“I love you too,” I whisper. “Sleep tight.”

Zyair and I have been married for two years and we are expecting our first child. I found out a few weeks ago that I am pregnant, we are both excited and happy for the new addition to our family. Zyair is amazing and I am more than certain he will be a great father. I have seen how good he is with Ivan even though the child is not his. Well I know that the little brat is not his, Zyair lied to me about the child’s paternity but I found out anyway. . have never confronted him about it though. I just hate that little brat and I hope when our own child is born, Zyair’s attention will shift and he will finally forget about Tia and Ivan.

ZYAIR

Saturday, I open my eyes to see the sun streaming through the window. Pacey is fast asleep and snoring quietly. Getting out of bed, I grab my phone and head to the kitchen to make myself some coffee. When I sit at the table to wait for the coffee, I press my phone and I am surprised to find it turned off.

Turning it back on, I wonder when and how I turned this phone off. I always keep my phone on, especially at night in case of emergencies at Tia’s. Tia and I are co-parenting and she is allowed to call me at any time when it comes to Ivan.

When my phone is finally on, some messages from Tia pop up. “Hey did you see my message?” Read the first one. “Your phone is now off, I guess you won’t be able to come. I will keep you updated.”
“Good morning. Ivan is doing a whole lot better this morning, his temperature has gone down too, the doctor says he will keep us for another day just to observe how he responds to treatment,” reads the last one.

What is she talking about? I wonder as I dial her line, she picks up almost immediately.
“Hello.”
“Hey, I have just seen the messages. Is Ivan okay? What are you doing at the hospital?”
“We got admitted last night. He was throwing up and his temperature was very high.”
“And you couldn’t tell me?”
“I called twice but you didn’t answer. I even sent a text and asked you to bring him some water and juice but still got no response. When I tried again, your phone was off.”
“I didn’t see any of your messages and your missed call until now, I didn’t even notice when my phone went off.”
“It’s okay, he is out of danger now.”
‘”Let me just take a bath. I will be coming over. Is there anything you need?”
“Maybe some breakfast. The doctor said he needs to take a lot of fluids so he remains hydrated.”
“Okay, what about clothes?”
“I carried more than enough last night.”
“Okay, I will see you soon.”
“Sure.”
“Where are you going?” Pacey asks when I end the call, I didn’t even notice her walk into the kitchen.
“Did you turn off my phone last night?”
“I did. It was disturbing me.”
“You noticed that Tia was calling?”
“What is this about?”
“You saw Tia’s missed calls, read and deleted the message she sent and turned off my phone knowing fully well my son was unwell?”
She shrugs,” what’s the big deal? It wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle right?”

“Can you listen to yourself right now?”
“Babe, can we please not argue? I don’t feel too well,” she says, rubbing her belly.
“Is the baby okay?”
“I don’t know. I feel some mild cramping in my lower abdomen.”
“You need to go to the hospital?”
“I don’t know.”
“I need to go to the hospital and check up on Ivan. Maybe we should go together so you can see your doctor as well?”
“Okay.”
“Please don’t ever turn my phone off next time. There’s nothing between Tia and I, we just communicate because of Ivan. I need you to trust me a little on that one. Will you?”
“I will.”
“Thank you,” I lean in to kiss her before I turn the stove off and lead her to our room so we can shower. I love Pacey, she is great and respectful, after Tia I never thought I would ever fall in love let alone marry again but here we are.

The only thing I don’t like about Pacey is her attitude towards Ivan. I can tell she doesn’t really like him that much. When he is around, she tries her best to ignore and avoid him. I really hope she gets to accept him as a part of me eventually. Her insecurities sometimes are also a turn off but I understand her, she knows how much I loved Tia she obviously feels threatened by her presence in my life.

An hour later after we have bathed, gotten dressed and had our breakfast we are ready to leave the house for the hospital.
“Shall we?” I extend my hand to hers.
Rising to her feet, she puts her hand in mine and I pull her close to me.
“You know that I love you right?”
“Yes baby.”
“I love you so much.”
“Show me how much,” she smiles.
I pull her lips into a breath-taking kiss for a few minutes,” I love you too Zyair.”
“I hope you always remember I chose you and I am not going anywhere.”
She smiles, “I know.”
“Shall we?”
“Yes.”

SOPHIA

” Congratulations, babe,” Manny murmurs in my ear and kisses my cheek. “For you, my love.” He hands me a bouquet of flowers.
“Thank you so much,” I smile widely, giving him a hug. “I wouldn’t have made it this far without your support. You, Missy and Ryan have been my sanity over the years, I owe you one.”

“You don’t owe us anything, we are family now,” Missy says.
“Thanks buddy.”
“You finally bagged that degree against all odds. I am really proud of you Sophia,” Ryan says and I smile at him.

Ryan is a rare gem, I don’t know what I did to deserve someone like him in my life. Despite what I did to him back in the days ,he stood by me and helped me become a better version of myself. I am really lucky to have him, Missy and Manny. And speaking of Manny, he and I started dating three years ago, we got engaged last year and now that I am done with school we shall start planning our wedding.

Missy and I are now the best of friends. Her husband actually scheduled a job for me, I start work next month.
“So what’s for the rest of the day?” I ask.
“We need to celebrate your achievement,” Manny says, wrapping his arms around me.
“I have everything planned out,” says Missy.
“Okay, great.”
“Let’s get the party started then,” I exclaim before we get into our separate cars. I am driving with Manny while Ryan is with Missy, she can’t drive herself now because she is heavily pregnant.

I plan on visiting my mother tomorrow in prison so I can tell her that I finally graduated. Over the last four years our relationship has Improved, I visit her regularly and fill her in on everything going on in my life. She knows about Manny and engagement too. It’s a different story with my father, I tried to visit him one time and he lashed at me, he told me he wanted nothing to do with me. That man actually disowned me, not that I care. At least I did reach out.

Anyway I am just glad life is amazing now. I finally got to study what I always wanted, I have an amazing man and friends that would do anything to see me happy. What more can I wish for?”

– The End.
