Rivers LG chairman removes Wike’s name from council building

The name of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has been removed from the council secretariat’s administrative block by Chijioke Ihunwo, the recently elected Chairman of Rivers State’s Obio Akpor Local Government Area.
The minister’s name, which was boldly engraved on the administrative building of the council secretariat, has now been replaced with a former politician and activist in the state, the late Obi Wali.
In a post alongside a video posted via his X page, @AmbChijioke, on Sunday, Ihunwo showed when Wike’s name was removed from the block and replaced with Wali.
He wrote, “We have changed Wike’s name in the admin block of Obio/Akpor Council, and replaced with the name of SENATOR DR. OBI WALI.”
Inhunwo and 22 other newly elected LGA chairpersons elected during the Rivers local council election were recently sworn in by the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
At the end of the poll, the Action Peoples Party won 22 council seats in the election, while the Action Alliance won one LG.
The All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party opposed the conduct of the poll.
