Harry styles kisses Nick kroll by celebrating ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ standing ovation
Harry Styles may have been inches away from his girlfriend, director Olivia Wilde, during the Don’t Worry Darling screening at Venice Film Festival, but it was co-star Nick Kroll he decided to plant a kiss on.
The Watermelon Sugar hitmaker attended the eventful press conference and premiere for the upcoming psychological thriller, with the cast and attendees enjoying a screening in the evening.
The film, also starring Florence Pugh, Gemma Chan, and Chris Pine, received a standing ovation and Harry appeared over the moon, heading straight for Nick, holding his face in his hands, and planting a kiss on his lips.
Harry and Nick, who both looked overjoyed, also shared a hug as attendees cheered around them.
Earlier on in the day, Harry reflected on the film and his acting career, as he takes on his second role following Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk.
‘It’s fun to play in worlds that aren’t necessary your own,’ he said during the press conference.
‘This world [of Don’t Worry Darling] is supposedly so perfect; it was fun to play pretend in it. It’s like driving fun cars, a lot of fun stuff as well. We were lucky to have that world built so well around us, so we could play in reality instead of pretending everything was nice.’
Don’t Worry Darling has been at the centre of speculation, particularly following rumours of a feud between Florence and Olivia (although the director has had nothing but praise for her leading actress).
While Harry, Chris, Gemma and Olivia attended the press conference, Florence gave it a miss, apparently due to filming commitments for Dune.
However, she did rock up for the premiere, posing with her co-stars and Olivia.
Attempting to clear up the reports, Olivia said: ‘Florence is a force; we are so grateful she is able to make it tonight [to the premiere] despite being in production.
‘As for all the endless tabloid gossip and noise out there, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel I need to contribute to it.
‘It’s sufficiently well-nourished.’
According to reports, the Midsommar actress was never due to attend the press conference due to her flight from Hungary not landing in Italy in time.
She isn’t planning to enjoy the festivities for too long, and is reportedly expected to continue Dune filming on Tuesday.
Olivia appeared to quash feud claims in a recent interview, heaping praise on Florence.
‘She’s ferociously talented,’ she told Interview Magazine. ‘She was so dogged in her pursuit of the most authentic version of every moment.
‘She also knew that my real goal was to create a love story that felt so sincere between her and Harry that people would be incapable of not falling for them as a couple. It had to be a love that felt real – it had to be passionate, but textured.
‘I wanted so badly to have a nuanced, layered relationship that people would buy into despite knowing at times in the film that they shouldn’t. Even when the movie suggests you should question them, I wanted you to fight it.’
