Xavi: 18-year-old Roman Vega Joins Barcelona’s First-team Training

FC Barcelona head coach, Xavi Hernandez has called for 18-year-old Roman Vega to join first-team training.

Here are things you need to know about Roman Vega.

1. He only arrived at Barcelona in September. The left-back had been part of Argentinos Juniors, managed by former Barca player Gabriel Milito, before he joined Barca Atletic [ex-Barca B] on loan.

2. He was coached by Javier Mascherano. The teenager often gets called up to the Argentina U20 squad. He has even won the friendly tournament in Uruguay earlier this month!

3. He is very versatile. The youngster normally plays as a full-back but could cover the whole left wing if needed. He is also capable of occupying the centre-back position.

Just a few days after training with Barca Atletic under Rafael Marquez, Vega got the chance to train with the first team. Impressive.

The loan deal includes a buyout clause, so we may expect the club to trigger it if Vega continues to impress.
