Video shows the new 35mm camera and another unique selling feature of the Nubia Z70 Ultra
Nubia, a former ZTE subsidiary, has never been an insider. Its emphasis on under-display cameras, which are anticipated to be further enhanced in the Nubia Z70 Ultra, is not the only reason for this; its comparatively low flagship killer price, despite an expensive Snapdragon chip and a significantly narrower focal length of the main camera (35mm equivalent), is another. Because of this, Nubia smartphones are appealing to anybody looking for something distinct from the products offered by Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, or Honor.
It looks like the successor to the Nubia Z60 Ultra (available here at Amazon) will once again be an indie smartphone that refuses to conform to the industry standard. Following an early-look video of the new full-screen display of the Nubia Z70 Ultra, a new video of the new main camera of the next Nubia flagship has emerged. For the first time, Nubia is combining a variable aperture with a 35mm lens, meaning that a very useful camera feature of current Xiaomi, Honor and Huawei phones will soon be combined with the focal length of the Nubia camera, which is better suited to portrait shots.
It remains unclear which aperture settings can be changed. In the video below, the whole thing looks like a stepless setup; on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, the aperture can be manually adjusted between F/1.6 and F/4.0. When exactly the Nubia Z70 Ultra will be officially unveiled also remains unclear, but we expect the Snapdragon 8 Elite / Snapdragon 8 Gen 4-powered camera flagship to be available in Europe shortly after it is unveiled. On another note, Nubia recently released a slightly improved version of the Nubia Z60 Ultra in the form of the “Leading Version”.
