Untold Benefits Of Hairs Around Your Anus!
“Women in the media are portrayed as beautiful if they’re tall, skinny, and perfectly hairless.” Of course, we all know that’s not the case.
In reality, women are just as gross as men when it comes to bodily functions: we burp, we fart, and we poop.
And surprise, surprise, we have body hair! Now, some women choose to remove their body hair by waxing, tweezing, or shaving, but the hair still grows before it can be removed.
Although women don’t have hair in all the same places as men — we don’t often have chest hair or back hair, at least not in the amounts men usually do — we do have armpit hair, leg hair, pubic hair, and even butt hair.
Yes, butt hair.
Many women are embarrassed about having hair on (or between) their butt cheeks, but it’s really no big deal.
Find out more about butt hair below!
1. Is Butt Hair Normal?
Yes, butt hair is totally normal!
Most women have some sort of butt hair. It may be thin and peach-fuzz-like, or it may be thicker and more coarse, like pubic hair.
You may have thin hair, like the kind on your legs or back, on your butt cheeks. Having darker, longer, and thicker hair between your butt cheeks is also totally normal.
2. What Is Butt Hair?
Hair on your butt cheeks is basically just like any other hair on your body. It’s often downy and fairly light.
Meanwhile, hair between your butt cheeks (and near your anus) is often more similar to pubic hair — and serves many of the same purposes.
3. Why Do We Have Butt Hair?
OK, so it’s normal to have butt hair, but why exactly do we have it to begin with? Good question.
Humans used to have thicker, coarser body hair to keep us warm, but as we’ve evolved (and created blankets and clothes), we’ve lost most of the body hair.
We still have some body hair because it serves a purpose.
4. It Helps Prevent Chafing
Butt hair, like pubic hair, can help prevent chafing.
These thick, coarse hairs protect patches of skin from rubbing against each other.
This is why some people have thicker hair between their butt cheeks — it helps prevent painful chafing and irritation.
5. It Makes You More Attractive To A Partner
According to Seventeen, butt hair also traps your unique scent, which can make you more attractive to a partner.
Now, I’m not saying you should go around presenting your butt hair to any potential partners, just that when the hair holds the scent, it may make you more appealing on a subconscious level.
6. What Should You Do About Your Butt Hair?
Although most people have butt hair, many women feel like they should remove it in order to feel more confident or more attractive.
However, you really don’t need to do a thing! Butt hair is there for a reason, so it doesn’t need to be removed.
Nobody will notice your butt hair as much as you do — but if it makes you feel self-conscious, you can consider getting rid of it.
7. Is It Safe To Get Rid Of Butt Hair?
Any beauty procedure involves a little bit of risk. When you remove body hair, there’s always the possibility you will sustain minor wounds, which can open you up to infection.
It’s also worth noting that hair removal of any kind makes your follicles more vulnerable to bacteria and other bad stuff, particularly because your butt comes into contact with toilet seats and other less-than-sanitary surfaces.
Just be sure you wash up very carefully if you choose to remove any hair in this sensitive area.
8. How Do You Get Rid Of It?
One way to remove your butt hair is to shave it — but be aware that just like shaving any other part of your body, you can get ingrown hairs on your butt (ouch!).
Also, be careful if you choose to shave your butt, because you won’t be able to see all of it.
Another good option for removing butt hair is to wax it — you can do it yourself or get it professionally done.
