Two district heads suspended for allegedly aiding armed bandits in Zamfara

Barely few months after a district head from Bungudu Local Government was dethroned for giving logistics support to armed bandits in Zamfara State, two other district heads had been suspended in Talata Mafara Local Government area of the state for similar offence.

Addressing newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, Hon. Bello Gamji Dankande, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who doubled as the Chairman, Police Community Relations, said the state government would soon constitute a powerful committee to investigate the district heads and deal with them according to the laws if found guilty.

He said that two AK47 rifles were recovered from the armed bandits while N8 million had been paid to those who recovered the eight guns and ammunition in the state.

He added that two of the district heads who were under interrogation had already been dethroned.

The chairman said that the action being taken by the state government was a red signal that it has become operation fire for fire, saying that the era of intimidating the defenseless citizens was over.

He assured that he was very much ready to protect the people over terror attacks by cracking down on armed bandits and kidnappers in the state.
