‘Thousands’ of fake Oasis tickets appear before North America tour sale starts

Ahead of their tour’s ticket sale, Oasis has warned its North American fans that “thousands” of “fake” tickets are being marketed.

“Please be mindful.” Before the North American tour has even begun to sell, thousands of counterfeit Oasis tickets have already been found on Stubhub and Vivid Seats! On their official X page, the band stated.

“The only authorized resellers in the US and Canada are @TwicketsUS and @Ticketmaster Fan-to-Fan.”

The post linked to a letter released by the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) on Wednesday, which said it found evidence of at least 9,000 fake tickets being listed for the US shows a day before any official ticket was sold to members of the general public.

‘Not only are these tickets fake, they are estimated to be exceedingly higher than the face value of real tickets,’ the letter read.

The general sale will not begin until October 4, with the presale starting today.

The band is set to perform in Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Los Angeles, and Mexico City at the end of the summer next year.

The report claims Stubhub had 2,177 fake ticket listings across three US Oasis shows, none of which, they say, had any warnings or messages that the supposed tickets listed were not in the possession of the seller.

Oasis have released a statement warning North America fans to watch out for fake tickets

A StubHub spokesperson told Metro: ‘Tickets can appear on the secondary market prior to an on-sale event as many industry stakeholders, season ticket holders, sponsors, and professional resellers have access to tickets long before public sales begin.

‘Ticket fraud is extremely uncommon on our regulated marketplace due to the measures we have in place. There is no incentive for anyone to attempt to sell a fraudulent ticket on StubHub – sellers will not be paid unless the buyer gets into the event successfully and can face consequences such as fines and removal from the platform.

‘The lack of transparency within the primary market, most recently evidenced by the failed onsale for Oasis’ UK and Ireland events, is a key factor in the broken primary ticket sales system.

‘It’s unfortunate that, instead of calling for industry collaboration to identify speculative listings through open communication and ticket verification services, NIVA has chosen to offer an incomplete view to consumers and the media.

‘Our secure and regulated marketplace helps millions of fans worldwide get into gigs every day on their terms, with the confidence of being protected by our guarantee.’

Meanwhile, the report claims Vividseats had 1,725 fake ticket listings without the warning in place.

It continued: ‘What is happening this week with Oasis tickets in the US is alarming, but it pales in comparison to what artists and independent stages see every day from predatory resellers.

‘This letter is a defence of consumers and artists everywhere.’

This comes after Oasis ticketing chaos in the UK, with some on resale sites for hugely inflated prices into the thousands after the general sale opening.

A mere 50 minutes into the UK tour general sale opening, Stubhub had tickets listed tickets for a mammoth £110,554.

However, most UK fans were even more irked by the official ticket sales, as dynamic pricing inflated costs due to huge demand, leaving many queueing for hours only to be unable to afford to buy one.

After huge backlash, it was announced that dynamic pricing would not be used for the North America tour dates, as a statement read: ‘Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing model will not be applied to the forthcoming sale of tickets to Oasis concerts in North America.’

Many UK fans were infuriated after reading this, with some asking if they would be reimbursed for their more expensive tickets.

The reunion will kick off next summer, and fans are now praying the famously at loggerheads brothers can remain civil until then – and throughout the much-anticipated tour.
