The Grudge (2020): Watch The Harrowing Trailer For The New Remake!!
Very few movies can escape the current remake frenzy. And in the case of The Grudge, the craze for reboots of remakes.
In 2002, Takashi Shimizu made Ju-on: The Grudge, the first movie in a lengthy Japanese horror series. The film led to a three-part American remake: The Grudge in 2004 (starring Sarah Michelle Gellar), The Grudge 2 in 2006, and The Grudge 3 three years later. The first two films in the trilogy of remakes were directed by Takashi Shimizu himself, while the third installment was overseen by Toby Wilkins.
Now it’s time for Nicolas Pesce to try a new take on the J-Horror classic. This new version of The Grudge, which will be R-Rated in the United States, will be haunting theaters in January. The movie is produced by Sam Raimi, who, after proving himself as a director, will be switching to production to revisit the Japanese nightmare.
The 2020 version of the movie will follow a pair of detectives played by Andrea Riseborough and Demián Bichir, who are investigating a murder. They soon discover the famous curse, which strikes the house and anyone who dares enter it. Meanwhile, John Cho (American Pie, Star Trek) plays a real estate agent charged with selling the house.
You can expect to see long-haired ghosts and a shower scene almost as traumatic as the one in Psycho.
