THE BABY FACTORY

Episode 02.

Enobong regained consciousness late in the night around two A.M , she was disoriented, the room was pitch black, she couldn’t see her hand Infront of her face, she felt a sharp pain around her pubic area , she gently touched her vag#na fresh blood was still oozing out. Dried blood had caked on her skirt , she tried to get up , but couldn’t the pain was unbearable, she began to cry , she crawled to the window and raised to curtain to see that the burglary proof hard bars like those at police cell, she crawled around the room feeling for the door , she found the door and managed to stand up , she tried to open the jam lock, it was obvious that the door was locked from outside.

” God what have I ever done wrong ? Why would you let this fall on me ? I was only trying to help my mother out…”
She cried from two A.m till four AM when she fell into unconsciousness.
She was woken up by a water that was dumped on her. It Amaka one of the nurses in the facility.
” Wake up sleepyhead.” She said laughing derisively as Eno jumped from the coldness of the water.
” You’re a first timer? I hope you enjoyed yesterday night.” She said laughing. Follow me to the bathroom to take your bath, so you can have your breakfast. Eno ignored her, she hissed.
” Na my belly? Why I dey worry myself, don’t eat na hungry go show you pepper.”
Eno ignored her she went away, she couldn’t stop crying. She was wondering what her mum would be thinking, if she would be thinking she was fine .
Aunt Emabong lived in a semi detached bungalow in Onitsha, where she ran a beer parlour, and restaurant. Her kids went to the best private schools in Onitsha, her husband was a building materials seller in Onitsha market .
Her phone was ringing inside the shop. She asked her sells girl to help her get the phone.

” Sister Ekamma good afternoon, how are the children?”
She could sense the fear and worry in her sisters voice .
” They’re all fine , thank you for the money you gave us yesterday and the food stuff you brought.”
Emabong smiled, laughing at her sister’s naivety.
” Haa my sister that’s nothing, you’re my sister I should do more for you and your children .”
Mrs Ekamma was worried about her daughter, she hesitated for a while before she asked her sister.
” I have been calling your number and Eno’s number since yesterday evening, to know how you arrived, but your number and hers were switched off.”
Madam Sharp Sharp thought of a smart and convincing lie to tell her sister.
” My phone was low, there was no light when I got here yesterday, there was no light in Onitsha,and Eno’s phone fell down while we were crossing the road , a vehicle climbed and crushed it.”
Mrs Ekamma’s mind was put at ease .
” Her madam has promised to get her a touchscreen phone before the week runs out , Eno is enjoying the house, the family lives in a mansion.”
Mrs Ekamma still had some fears in her mind , but she was happy to hear that they were all fine .

” Emabong when are you going to bring your husband and children to see us in the village? Even if papa and mama are no more , we still have other relatives, uncles and aunts, so your husband would know you’re somebody’s daughter. ”
Emabong had never let her family see her husband and children, it’s only pictures on her phone she kept showing them.
” Sister leave that matter, I will bring them when I have the opportunity.”
She hung up the phone on her sister, that had been her attitude each time her sister asked to see her family, she wasn’t surprised, Emabong had been a mystery to them all.

In Agumbano autonomous community, Enobong had just woken from another round of sleep. Madam Gold came to her room . She was told by the nurses who came three times a day to check on the girls, told her Eno was being stubborn that she was weak and sick , and had refused to eat . She went to her room to how a talk with her.
” My dear you refused to eat? Your aunt has sold you to me for a million naira, you’re here to make babies for me , you’re not the first to behave this way, but one thing I know you’ll break, you’ll serve me . Be prepared for tonight, because another man is coming. If you’re wise , you’ll let him sleep with you, because if you fight him, what happened yesterday would be a joke .”
She spoke point blank without emotions and went out . Fear gripped Eno, she began to cry to God to come and save her, she was weak , since she had not tested food and water for twenty four hours , she shrunk herself on one corner of the bed , being scared of the night, this night the generator light was on, her heart began to beat fast as she heard somebody trying to open the door , a middle aged man bumped in , he was fully aroused, he was staring at Eno like a predator circling it’s prey before pouncing on it.

Eno squeezed herself to one corner of the room, if she could sink into the wall, she would have, to avoid a repeat of yesterday’s nightmare.
” If you let me go gentle you’ll enjoy it , I heard Emaka was hard on you yesterday, but if you don’t want me to be gentle by you continuing to drag, I’ll do it forcefully, you’ll only have yourself to blame”
The middle aged man Chibuzor said . Eno began to cry and beg him
” Sir please don’t do that to me! I can be the age of your daughter.”
The man laughed hysterically.
” But you’re not, I had Calabar vagnia is very sweet, I am going to test it today”
Eno refused again the man forced himself on her , he was there for two hours , he’ll go on her cum, rest and continue , Eno was sore in her private part. The man left by two PM got his ten thousand naira and left .
The chef had come to take the morning food and replaced It with tea and bread, Eno got up and drank little tea and bread , before falling into sleep .

Eno had accepted her harsh reality , she had been in Madam Gold’s detention for a week, seven men had abused her more than fourteen times, madam Gold always test the girls and the men for sexually transmitted diseases, because buyers test the infants before they collect them, having a sick baby was bad for business. Nurse Amaka came and took Eno’s blood she was very mean and wicked.

Eno tried to remember her life a week ago in Eket market with her mum, tears dropped from her eyes, some two ladies put to bed that week, the clinic in the gigantic structure was like a small hospital, where nurse Onyekwerem was the head nurse and matron of the clinic. Eno was walking around the facility to check if there was a place for escape. But the fence was about twelve feets high , mighty trees surrounded the gigantic compound, the security men at the gate never slept, some of the old girls who had put to bed were settled by Madam Gold and their baby collected and sold for two million naira for baby girl, four million naira for baby boy, some of this Ladies came on their own they could leave after putting to bed.
