Episode 06.

On the bed, was her husband watching the television and sipping juice from a glass cup with two pieces of meats before him. Mrs Ololade was totally confused.

“Darling, you are back from work?”, Mrs Ololade asked trembling.

“Yes dear, I wasn’t feeling fine, so, I took a permission to go home. I was hungry, so, I took two pieces of meats in the pot”, Mr Ololade said concentrating on the television.

“So, you were the one who took meats from the pot?”, Mr Ololade asked regretting what she had done earlier.

“Honey, what’s wrong. Have you done something again?”, Mr Ololade said noticing the uneasiness on his wife.

Mrs Ololade could not say a word.

“I knew it. I was hearing voices from the kitchen the other time. I was engrossed in what I was watching that I didn’t bother to get up and check. What did you do to my daughter?”, Mr Ololade said as he rose up from the bed angrily.

“Baby, calm down. I…..I …….I was just trying to correct her. I thought she was the one who took the meats from the pot, so, I gave her a little punishment. I didn’t want her to turn to a liar and a thief”, Mrs Ololade said scared of her husband’s reaction.

“You mean I can’t take meat from the pot again in my house. Indirectly, you are calling me a thief. You punished my daughter because of the meats I took. I’m very happy that I have not eaten any of the meat. I don’t want it again. I give you a large amount of money for food stuffs every week, yet, you still do all this?”, Mr Ololade said and walked out of the room angrily.

“Oh my God! I hope this useless girl would not destroy my marriage. I didn’t even notice my husband’s car when I came in. How does he expect me to know that he was the one who took the meats? Has he ever been at home at this time of the day before?”, Mrs Ololade lamented.

Dammy felt like life was been drained out of her. She didn’t know what she did to deserve the level of hatred her mom had for her. She decided to talk to someone so that she would be able to clear off her head. She took her phone and remembered something.

“Oh! David gave me his number. I think I dropped the paper he gave me in my bag”, Dammy said as she reached out for her school bag. She saw the note and saved David’s number on her phone immediately. She decided to chat him up on What’sApp, so, she sent “Hi” to him.

David replied two minutes later, “Hi dear, How did your day go?
Dammy was surprised that David knew she was the one chatting up with him. However, she felt chatting up with David would ease her pain. She replied, “My day was really terrible”.

David replied with an emoji which showed he was shocked and unhappy. “Baby, what happened?”, David texted.

“It’s a long story dear, ” Dammy texted back.

“Well, tell me about it. I’m ready to listen to the long story, sweetheart”, David replied and added a love emoji.

Dammy was about replying David when her dad entered her room. She was shocked, her dad was not supposed to be home by now.

A lot of thoughts raced her mind. She wondered if her mom had called her dad to come home from office because of the lost pieces of meats. Dammy dropped her phone and greeted her dad.

“Can we stroll out together, my princess?” Mr Ololade said to Dammy.

Dammy was taken aback. It took some seconds before she could regain her composure. She replied with mixed feelings, “Sure dad”.
