Episode 06.

The area was deserted, most families moved away , because nights had become a terrifying affair , they would hardly have sleep , knocks on their doors and then they would open to see no one , or some would recognize my dad’s ghost , we could hardly come out of our house, when I told mum of what dad had in the red room ,she knew about the room, but dad had barred her from ever coming to that side of the house, he had mounted a CCTV to monitor that area , she said he would spend hours in the room, and asked that nobody should disturb him. Mum and aunt Magi got a Pastor to come help clear it out , the police men refused to come and clear the bodies , they said dad was gone so he couldn’t be tried or prosecuted , that they was no need of them coming, that we should do whatever we want with the bodies , in actual reality we knew they were afraid of coming to our family house after the incidence at their station. Grandma’s body was taken by uncles and buried at the village , the bodies of our poor maids and the boy were buried off by the local government sanitation department after mum paid a million naira .
The pastor conducted deliverance in our house, with salt and coconut water ,before he removed all dad’s occultic things, we had the pastor died a week later, from a fatal motor accident.

Dad’s cult people started appearing to me at strangest of places .
“Solomon you’re being stubborn! Your father is very mad at you, you destroyed your only way of redemption, prepare to die you and your cursed family.”
He said before he disappeared.
Mum had been back to the house for three weeks now, we had not had a major attack , I was suspicious of the quietness, because the vengeful ghost of my father , wouldn’t let anyone it wants to haunt rest , my mum and siblings were settling in , but not me ,I stayed awake every night to listen attentively for any strange movement, I could hear my siblings breathing In their sleep next door , I could hear mum shuffling around on the bed and thr duvet noise .

Neighbors had been asking us to go to church for deliverance, but we were really not Christians apart from the time we went for aunt Magi’s wedding and children naming ceremonies, dad had never allowed us to step into a church, we just stayed at home on Sundays, it was on Sunday members of his club came visiting, mum would make pots of peppersoup and prepare various delicacies.

So on this night was hearing footsteps downstairs, i gently opened to check on my siblings, they were sleeping soundly in the double decker bed, snoring Like whales , I went to mum’s room she was peacefully sleeping, the footsteps was getting louder In the kitchen, I tiptoed to the kitchen, I saw his dark shape standing near the gas cooker, the kitchen was filled with odour of gas , he intentionally opened the gas .
” What are you doing dad? ” I said to him, he turned to me with a devilish smile on his face.
” Who is your dad ? ” He said while roaring in laughter.
” Hahaha what does it appear like am doing, I’m burning the house with you , your brothers and your mum In it”
I ran towards him to wrestle the lighter from his hand, but a force from his stretched hands sent me flying across the room . He turned on the lighter, at the moment I escaped from the kitchen.
“Kpooooom.” The sound of the explosion sounded , it sent the house reverberating pictures hanging on the walls of the sitting room flew to the ground , chimneys crashed to the ground , the chandeliers crashed to the ground , I could hear alarms of cars packed outside blaring from the impact of the powerful blast, the TV had collapsed , mum had replaced that TV after dad’s ghost had destroyed the old one , I made my way upstairs , I banged at my mum’s door , it was shut tight , I wondered if mum had woken up and locked the door From inside . I kicked and screamed at mum to get up to open the door , mum was dead in her slumber I rushed to the store that was being covered by fire and got a bar , we used for pulling nails , with which I laboured for five minutes before I could open mum’s door , the room was covered in smoke , I shook mum up and she woke from sleep , she was confused about the smoke , mum was a light sleeper I wondered how she could sleep in the midst of so much chaos . I saw dad’s shape run pass the corridor laughing, the door shut me and mum in, we started fighting to open the door , the smoke had covered the whole house, the raging inferno had spread to the ceiling, at last the door gave way and we ran to the room Georgy and Caleb , they had woken up to the smoke and hot air around them, I began to kick at the door mum was screaming.
“Solomon be fast the fire is coming this way.”
I used my weight against the door over and over until it gave way . Georgy and Caleb ran out and embraced mum, they ran down the stairs , I saw dad’s angry ghost coming after us , it was on fire burning like embers off wood .
“Solomon run! The ghost is coming behind you!”
Mum screamed we ran to the exit door, the keys were Jamb.
Our neighbors had scaled our fence and were in our compound trying to break down the door .
“Please be fast , we’re choking here .”
The evil menacing apparition at stood In the burning house in the midst of fire as if it was ice, staring as it waited for us to burn , the red flames were burning as if gasoline was sprinkled on it , mum covered us with her body , as the fire began to fall from the roof , and the rescuers broke down the door and we made out of the house, but the ghost grabbed mum and began to draw her back into the fire , we watched in horror , I couldn’t stand like the others, as mum was screaming , I dived into the burning house and began to drag her hands , I pulled her out of the house , there was a loud thunderous explosion and our house crumbled to the ground, mum and I were covered in fire burns , our kind neighbors drove us to a private clinic were we were admitted and treated
