[STORY] FATED TO DIE (Episode 13)

Episode 13.

The school bell rang (signifying that all students should leave the lobby and head for class), bringing me back to the land of the living. I took steps into the building, headed for my class, still trying to shake off what I saw earlier but the images just wouldn’t clear.

Pushing the door to the classroom open, I saw Red all over Mel, welcoming her back to school.

Why was she welcoming her back to school? What am I missing? I hate not knowing things, it irritates me so much.

Quietly I found my way to my seat, as the tutor came in. To be frank and honest, my eyes were on Jason, whose gaze was fixed on Mellisa all through. I was staring hard at Jason and Jason was staring hard at Mel who seem to notice as she was blushing at intervals. So annoying! I just wish I can get her out of this school for good. I will get her out of this school and out of our lives, even if it’s the last thing I will do.

MEL’S POV

For a moment, I forgot my sadness and pains as I was with Jason in his room. I felt safe with him and strangely happy, got this feeling that this was exactly where I belonged, right besides him. He didn’t sleep in the room with me, although I secretly wished he would but I couldn’t say it out loud to avoid him reading the wrong meaning to it.

I should be angry at him, I should hate him with so much passion, I should wish him dead but unfortunately, here I was, smiling at him, enjoying his company. Am I going insane or what?

If I had not being in a relationship before, then I would say its probably a crush thing but I have already been in relationships and I know what they are about. Relationships are not really my thing, they are not meant for me so I decided to stay off them.

I have been in love before. I have fallen out of love too but with Jason, the feeling is different. The feeling is strange. It felt so wrong but yet so right. I don’t want to be close to him but I find myself yearning for his attention all of the time. Am I crazy?

And moreover, this is not a time for all these happy feelings, I can’t be thinking of love or crush right now. I should be thinking of how to raise that money. But what if I told Jason? He could help! No! That’s a bad idea, I don’t want to be indebted to him financially, not in this lifetime. I would sort myself out very soon. I just need time!!

JASON’S POV

I saw Isabella’s angry expression but I cared less, I was too happy. All through our hours in class, I couldn’t get my eyes off Mellisa as I was lost in her beauty. The more I stared, the more reasons I had, to stay besides Mel, I couldn’t let go of her or let another man have her, never!!

Lunch time came, to my relief actually, as I strolled down to Mel’s seat.

“Lunch time!” I yelled besides her ear, causing her to jerk a bit, throwing the books on her hand on the floor, before letting out a light chuckle.

“Sorry beautiful” I teased making her blush as I bent down to pick her books. She dropped the books into her bag pack, placing the bag on her back, as we strolled out of the classroom into the cafeteria.

Walking into the cafeteria, we took our trays as she led the way to the extreme corner of the huge hall. We both sat down, eating quietly as her face turned red from blushing, maybe I was staring too hard but I just couldn’t stop myself.

“Uhmm Jace…”

“Wow! Mel that’s beautiful”

“What is?” She asked, turning backwards to have a look at this beautiful thing I was talking about.

“That” I said, my eyes locked in hers. She, again turned looking for it with her eyes

“What Jace?”

“The way you just called my name…its beautiful”

She blushed a bit before letting out a soft chuckle.

“Anyways, as I was saying, can I borrow your phone for a minute. I’d really need to make a call”

“Are you asking?” I asked, placing my palm on her hand that was on the table.

Time froze, as our eyes interlocked. Was it impossible to not blink? I’m pretty sure we did the impossible.

“Yeah!” She replied slowly as I watch her lips move to the rhythm of her word.

I just can’t wait to have a taste of them. I just can’t wait to know how it feels kissing those soft, attractive lips of hers.

“What’s going on here” Tasha appeared nowhere, interrupting our little moment.

“What do you mean?” Mel asked in a very low voice, removing her hand from underneath my palm, smiling to clear the tension that was in the air.

“Everything! Just yesterday, you both hated each other and today, you both came to school together, walked into school together and now you both are eating lunch together. What am I missing here?”

“Is it bad if we are seen together? Can’t we make friends again?” I asked trying to make her stop talking

“OMG!! Is this Jason talking right now? Am so surprised. Baby girl what did you do to him? Wait! Don’t tell me (gasps) no! You didn’t (chuckles) you guys did it right?”

“Did what?”

“Natasha!”

“That’s my name” she said grinning “so tell me the gist Mel. How was he? Was he, you know, up to the task?”

“You guys know that am sifted right opposite you both”

“You are very silly Tasha. I just can’t believe you right now. Gosh! And no we didn’t do anything of such. You need to have your mind washed thoroughly”

“Whatever! But like seriously, what really happened?”

“Eat your food young lady” I said firmly as she immediately shut her loud mouth up.

“The phone” Mel’s voice came out

I handed her my phone, as she excused herself from the table.

She moved to a distance, talking inaudibly into the phone. I saw the phone drop from her ear, but she stood still for a minute, remaining on the same spot.

After about five minutes of standing, she returned back to the seat but not touching her food again.

“Is something wrong?” I asked out of concern

She nodded in the negative, even though her expression betrayed her. I could sense the deep sadness oozing from her although she denied it completely. Even Tasha noticed it but she acted like she didn’t. They seemed to be hiding something from me and I must find out.

I saw Tasha nudged at Mel to keep up a bright face to fool me, but am not that stupid, I’ll find out soon.

The bell rang again, as the students filed out of the cafeteria back to their respective classes.

School went as normal and when the bell rang again, everybody got up, ready to leave for home.

“Hey Mel. Let’s go get your phone”

“Okay!” She replied absentmindedly

We walked out of the class, she waving Tasha bye, who stood besides the fuming Isabella. We headed towards my bike together. I drove to the plaza, to pick up her phone, which had already been fixed and in good condition.

“Where next?” I asked

“Mel” I called again, she seemed lost in whatever she was doing on the phone.

“Yes!” She replied, looking at me for a second before looking back down at the phone

“I was asking where you’d like to go next. If you would like me to ride you…”

“I have to go now Jace. I’ll see you tomorrow” she replied, already walking away from me

“What’s wrong Mel? You can talk to me about it, who knows, I might be of help” I said, pulling her back gently

“See you tomorrow” she said releasing herself from my grip and walked away

What exactly is going on with Mellisa? Is she in some kind of trouble? Tasha would know. I think its high time, I paid her a visit.

WRITER’S POV

An angry looking Isabella was pacing to and fro in her room. She picked up her phone, dialed a number and placed it on her ear.

Remember what you suggested that I turned down before? (Silence) Am fully in now. Let’s do this!
