[STORY] AYOMIDE (Episode 19)

Episode 19.

After Ayo was almost raped by Andrew, she made up her mind to resign from the company and there was no going back. She stood in front of the mirror with sad expression on her face. “How can a man be so greedy?” First he demanded 30% of her salary which she agreed because she needed the job badly. Again, 40% because her salary was raised then he changed his mind to demand for sex. What audacity? Who knows? He may ask for 50 or 60 percentage of her salary one day. The most annoying part was when he tried to rape her.

“He is not afraid of God. Look at the way he accused me of seducing him” she gave a short laugh.
“Father thank you for the timely intervention. I would have been a rape victim.”
Today, she was just going to submit her resignation letter, then go hunting for another job.

The Boss was around and the staff were happy. The staff of the company were holding a meeting. Everyone was present except Ayo who was still on her way. Usually, she was an early bird but because of her intention to resign, she didn’t see any need to be in the company on time. Her seat was vacant and those who cared about her asked here where about.

When she eventually got to the office, the meeting was already in progress. One of the security men told her that the MD of the company had returned from overseas and he’s holding a meeting with the staff. She knew she won’t be able to hand over the letter to the Secretary because she was in the meeting too. She made up her mind to join the meeting then hand the letter to the Secretary and remove her personal things from her office. She sneaked into the boardroom and grabbed a seat.

“… and I needed to travel because it was necessary. While I was away Mr Andrew my buddy was feeding me with all I needed to know. I appreciate you all who contributed in no small way to the growth of the school. I can also see that the company has increased her staff strength. I will like the staff who joined this company in my absence to introduce themselves. My name is …..
So the new staff including Ayo introduced themselves.

The sad news got to Emmanuel that Ayo had resigned.
“Why did she resign?” he asked perplexed.”Is the company owing her in any way?

“No sir” the human resources manager replied.

“I want to read the letter. Get it for me.” He rushed and brought the letter to Emmanuel.

In the letter, Ayo thanked the company for the experience she had gained. She said she was resigning because she was no longer having joy working there.

Emmanuel wasn’t pleased with her reason. If she wasn’t happy, something must have triggered it. He noticed that after that meeting, Ayo never returned to work. Initially he thought she took permission to be absent for duty until the HR briefed him about her resignation.

He felt joy when he saw Ayo sneaked into the meeting. He recognized her immediately but she didn’t recognize him. He knew why! He has enough flesh. Ayo met him when he was dying. He was practically a skeleton. He wanted to speak with her only to discover that she had disappeared and had not showed up again.

“Call her and apologize on behalf of the company” he told the HM. I have been dialling her number but she’s not picking” Andrew said taking a seat opposite her.

“Alright tell the secretary to get me her file”

“Okay sir” the HR said walking out of the office.”

“You shouldn’t be bothered about her. Soldier go soldier come.” Andrew told him.
Emmanuel ignored him and collected the file from the secretary. He scrabbled Ayo’s personal information on his diary. He was going to pay her a visit. He discharged Andrew from his office then drove off to Ayo’s house. One of the sales girl in Adenike’s supermarket informed him that Ayo wasn’t home.

“You said you will make me shine in that company, yet I resigned,” she told her father. “Father, I don’t want to stay idle. Give me a job” she kept praying.

“You bargained with the devil” the voice told her. “You never consulted me whether I have anything to say. You didn’t even ask me to deal with him. That’s because you enjoyed paying what he demanded from you. In my mercy I intervened because he wanted to defile the apple of my eyes. Always seek me Ayo. I am not too far my child.”

Ayo prostrated on the ground and cried.
” Forgive me father. I am sorry. Have mercy.”

“I have forgiven you. I will make you shine. I will announce you and everything I have spoken about you, I will bring them to pass.

“You have blessed me with good health, sound mind and wealth. Please Lord, bless me with the bone of my bone. I don’t want a wrong woman for a wife. Help me father” Emmanuel prayed

“Praise me!” the voice said.

Emma started singing and dancing until thick sweat broke out from his body.

“Emmanuel you will feed my sheep and they must never go astray.”

“Okay sir!

“I have already prepared a wife for you. She’s a weapon my son. She’s my battle axe. I have started using her to build, destroy and uproot.”

“I have not relate with any woman since I returned from UK father. Who could this woman be my father?”

“Ayomide!”

“Ah father! But I have not spoken to her. Will she accept me? He kept conversing with his father.
