Senator Kabir Marafa set to protest with women over killings in Nigeria
Senator Kabir Marafa representing Zamfara Central Senatorial district wants women to protest against attacks in the country as a way of expressing their anger.
Speaking on a motion on Children’s Day which is celebrated every 27th May, Marafa was emphatic that women Senators should protest.
He said, in Zamfara alone, attacks have left 10,000 widows, while over 20,000 children have been orphaned.
The lawmaker recalled how a former governor of Zamfara State, Sani Ahmad Yerima married an Egyptian underage and women took to streets in protest.
“I recall that in the 7th Senate, women protested against my colleague and my leader, Sani Ahmad Yarima for marrying underage with the consent of her family.”
“I stand shoulder to shoulder with women, but I want women Senators to protest against attacks on women in Zamfara state.”
