Olufemi Lanlehin unveils seven-point agenda to turn Oyo around
The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Oyo State, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, has said he intends to turn around the fortunes of the state with the implementation of his seven-point agenda, if elected.
Lanlehin said this in an interview with our correspondent in Lagos on Thursday.
He said he was enjoying the support of the majority of the people of the state, who he said had shown that they were tired of the All Progressives Congress-led state government.
The ADC candidate promised to administer the state in a way that would make life comfortable for the people.
He said he would focus on his seven-point agenda which included agriculture, health, education, roads, provision of water and others to reposition the state and make life better for its people.
Lanlehin promised to construct inter-city as well as intra-city roads apart from roads to farm settlements for easy transportation of agricultural products.
The ADC governorship candidate said rather than awarding few road contracts with huge amount of money to friends and relatives, his administration would spread such contracts so that the impact would be felt by the people all over the state.
He said, “Cottage industries must be revived and they will be used to provide jobs for the youth in the state. We will use agriculture to achieve this. We will revive agricultural production and add value to the produce.
“When people are okay, when their economic power increases, they will pay attention to their health and their productivity will increase.
“We will revive the old Marketing Board and buy agricultural produce from farmers and store them when there is glut.
“We will bring these out for sale when the season is over. These will encourage more people to go into agriculture because they will be sure that their efforts will not be wasted.
“Instead of gallivanting all around the world in the name of looking for investors, we will look for investors here. The investors are here and we will create an enabling environment for the local investors to thrive.”
