NYSC charity club donates food, clothes, cash to Sokoto orphanage
The Charity and Tourism Club, a Community Development Service (CDS) group of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), has donated assorted food items, clothes and an undisclosed amount of money to the Sokoto Orphanage.
The food items so donated included rice, indomie noodles, sphagetti, macaroni, beverages, toiletries, detergents and clothes, among others.
President of the Club, Mr. Obochi Ekele Gabriel, while presenting the items, on Sunday, said that the gesture was part of its routine assistance to the less privileged members of the society.
According to Gabriel, the gesture would also make the orphans to have a sense of belonging and boost their bond with the society.
He appealed to the wealthy individuals and well meaning groups to emulate the gesture, with a view to bolster the welfare of the orphans.
Chairman of the Management Committee of the Orphanage, Dr. Malami Bankanu, commended the corps members for the invaluable gesture.
Dr. Bankanu explained that, ensuring the welfare and comfort of the orphans was a collective responsibility.
