Mo Bewa: I don’t broke-shame men
Actress Mo Bewa, whose real name is Omobewaji Oyediji, has voiced her dislike of women who make fun of or belittle men because of their financial difficulties.
She told Saturday Beats, “People who know me are aware that I don’t stand for things like that. Why would you broke-shame me? The society has pressurised the male gender into thinking they are saviours, who have to provide everything a woman wants. I am not in support of women who broke-shame men. If the woman can also not afford it, she has no right broke -shaming a man. I am totally against women that broke-shame men”.
Speaking on her absence from the movie scene, she said, “I can’t say I took a break entirely because I was on a movie set recently; I just did not post about it on social media. Also, I leaned more towards business because I had always wanted to have multiple streams of income. In as much as acting is lucrative, it doesn’t hurt to build my business. I already told anyone who cared to listen that I will be back and better next year.”
Sharing her thoughts on the debate between releasing films in cinemas versus on digital platforms such as YouTube, she said, “If you feel your project is good enough to push to the cinemas; by all means, do that. I am not a fan of limiting anybody.”
