Red Line is one of the six rail lines and one monorail prescribed for Lagos in her Strategic Transport Master Plan (STMP).

The vital transport project connects Lagos with Ogun State, where many workers and business owners in Lagos reside.

The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line will begin partial, non-fee-paying passenger operations from Wednesday, 28th August 2024, ahead of the commencement of full commercial operations.

During the trial tun, the Red Line trains will run four trips per day between Oyingbo in Lagos State and Agbado in Ogun State, according to the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).

The Red Line, one of the six rail lines and one monorail prescribed for Lagos in her Strategic Transport Master Plan (STMP), is a vital transport project connecting Lagos with Ogun State where many workers and business owners in Lagos reside.

This milestone marks the culmination of planning, training of technical and ground staff, and a successful 6-week trial run conducted without passengers to ensure the system’s safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Similar to what was done during the test phase of the Blue Line, the Red Line partial operations is a major step forward in realizing the Lagos State Government’s vision of a modern, efficient, integrated and sustainable transportation system.

In addition to providing a reliable and affordable transportation option for commuters, the 27-km Red Line first phase will reduce traffic congestion and improving the quality of life for Lagos residents.
