JUSUN apologises to Nasarawa chief judge for disrupting court sitting
The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has apologised to Mr Suleiman Dikko, the Chief Judge (CJ) of Nasarawa State for disrupting the sitting of his court.
Mr Maruan Mustapher-Adamu, president of the union tendered the apology during a reconciliatory meeting with the officials of Nsarawa State Government on Tuesday in Lafia.
Mustapher-Adamu said the meeting was aimed at resolving the lingering industrial crisis involving judicial workers and the government.
He urged both parties to put whatever might have happened behind them.
According to him, no matter what happened, it is not right for the workers to disrupt sitting in any court.
“As staff of the judiciary, we know the sanctity in the office of the CJ, therefore distrusting his court was not right.
“As a leader, I take responsibility for their action because we gave the union the permission to protest and proceed on strike,” the president said.
He however appealed to Nasarawa Judicial Service Commission to reverse its decision on the dismissal of 20 members of the union.
Responding, the CJ accepted the apology and said that as a father, he did not have any personnel problem with the workers.
He also advised members of the union to desist from transferring personal aggression into union affairs.
He promised to present their request to reverse the dismissal of some of the members to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for consideration.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the union embarked on an indefinite strike since Nov. 13 2018, to demand for better welfare of its members.
NAN also reports that the JSC on Nov. 26, 2018 dismissed 20 officials of the union for their alleged roles in disrupting a sitting court.
