James Blunt and “two-faced” Noel Gallagher reignite their 18-year feud
James Blunt has reignited their dispute over his “terrible” music, some twenty years after Noel Gallagher made a cunning remark.
James, who narrowly avoided having to adopt his name Blunty McBluntface, disclosed that he had just run into the Oasis icon.
Noel, 57, was called “two-faced” by the You’re Beautiful singer for remarks made in 2006, suggesting that the encounter hasn’t gone well.
It all started when James, 50, bought a house in Ibiza, Spain, not far from the Some Might Say singer’s own holiday home.
At the time, Noel joked he would be selling the property to avoid having to listen to James’ ‘terrible’ music.
‘I bumped into Noel Gallagher the other day,’ James revealed on the How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast. ‘He’d said he was leaving Ibiza and selling up his house because he couldn’t handle me writing my s**t songs down the road from him.’
Noel did make good on his promise (or threat) and ditched the property, putting it on the market for around £5.5million in 2008.
In 2013, he confirmed the reason during a Q&A, telling curious fans that ‘[James] didn’t (upset me). He just moved there. I can’t have that.’
However, James feels the Acquiesce singer is a little two-faced as he’s always ‘really sweet’ to his face but not so kind in interviews.
‘Whenever I see him, he’s really sweet to my face. I think everyone’s sweet to each other’s faces,’ the Goodbye My Lover hitmaker continued.
‘It’s just with the courage of a microphone and a journalist and trying to show off a little, they’ll do something different.’
James got the last laugh though as he claimed house prices went up after the Britpop legend moved out.
Earlier this year, ahead of the Oasis reunion announcement, the feuding singers posed together while on holiday.
‘IT’S ON – The reunion the world has been waiting for…’ joked James as he posted the picture on Instagram.
While the world has gone Oasis mad, the High singer has also had a nostalgic chart moment as his debut album re-entered the charts on its 20th anniversary.
He made the (unwise) promise to legally change his name to whatever the public wanted if he landed a number-one album.
Thankfully, it secured seventh place in the UK album charts and he avoided being named Blunty McBluntface after a chaotic public vote.
Meanwhile, Noel has been fairly quite outside of Oasis reunion announcements as his brother Liam, 52, keeps fans entertained with his endless stream of X posts.
Oasis recently revealed Richard Ashcroft of The Verve as their special guest on tour, which has recieved mixed responses from fans.
