iPhone 16 Pro transformed into custom transparent edition with the help of gallium in new video

Gallium is one of the world’s most popular conductive materials, and it has a wider appeal in the tech enthusiast community than just being used in the latest high-speed power bricks. For example, it may be used to remove the (100% recyclable) aluminum bar.

That is one of the steps used by the YouTuber Phone Repair Guru in the process of making one of Apple‘s latest mobile devices transparent.

It was also one of the more spectacular, as the liquid gallium seemed to dissolve the handset’s back-plate (although it would be more accurate to say that the 2 metals made a weak amalgam over time.

Phone Repair Guru was also able to remove the 16 Pro’s wireless charging coil in one using a MagSafe accessory, albeit slightly less smoothly compared to the gallium.

The vlogger ended up with a rear panel made successfully transparent, neatly showcasing the new iPhone’s redesigned internals, the shiny new battery housing that is not, strangely enough, available in the Pro Max model, included. What a shame Apple itself went for Desert Titanium instead.

Then again, trying this hack at home is not completely advisable, especially given Apple’s potentially costly schedule of repair charges should something go wrong.
