How lunar and solar eclipses affect you – Astrology
An eclipse occurs when an astronomical object is obscured, either by another body blocking its view from Earth or by passing into the shadow of another body.
A solar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth line up and the Moon blocks light from the Sun.
A lunar eclipse happens when the Moon moves into the Earth’s shadow. Lunar eclipses can only happen on a Full Moon.
There are several (around four) eclipses every year, they happen in one astrological sign and its opposite sign, such as Taurus and Scorpio.
How eclipses affect us
Eclipses are nothing to be scared of, although many people tend to get het up about them. It’s true that they do super-charge the lunar energy swirling around which usually propels us into an insight, decision or act aligned with our true destiny.
The Moon likes to dispel secrets and illusions. It’s a time to get real, be honest, live authentically, and let magic happen for yourself.
This doesn’t mean doing anything radical or scary. The beauty of the eclipse is that it will bring the right life opportunities to your door.
Eclipses are a time to sit back and let life happen instead of resisting, pursuing or manifesting. Let things be and see what happens.
It’s likely that soon after an eclipse, you will find yourself making changes and life shifts anyway. Things which need to come to a conclusion will do so. And things that are waiting to emerge in our world will too. Eclipses clear the air in a way.
The next (and final of 2022) eclipse is a total lunar eclipse during the November’s Full Moon, occurring in Scorpio season and therefore the Moon sign of Taurus.
This will be an emotional Full Moon – with a big emphasis on relationships. Expect the unexpected. Don’t be surprised to feel differently about people (or at least to come to acknowledge your changed and true feelings).
The general advice is always, with a Full Moon and an eclipse, to settle into your feelings rather than acting too hastily. There’s no big rush. Get used to your new emotional equilibrium before activating life changes resulting from it.
Taureans and Scorpios are the signs most affected by this final eclipse, as it links with their astrological axis, however all signs are likely to receive an epiphany or two about their relationship world, and maybe their monetary affairs too.
Things to do on an eclipse
- Meditate – look inwards, ask yourself big life questions and ruminate on your gut reaction answers.
- Journal – write down what has happened in the preceding year, what you’re grateful for, what has changed, what you hope for and fear.
- Relax and unwind in natural surroundings – if you can indulge in a twilight spa, do! Otherwise, an evening stroll by a river or ocean. A walk in the woods. Sitting out at dawn or dusk with a warm drink and a blanket and looking at the stars. Let nature’s visual wisdoms guide your thoughts and ideas.
- Focus on your relationships – spend time with those you value most, those you love and like. Notice the dynamics, the energy, the chemistry. Be an example, lead the mood towards positive and supportive, listen well and show attention and care.
- Cleanse crystals – use smoke, running water, your breath, burial or salt to cleanse your crystals during this lunar phase.
