Group confronts Ohanaeze youths over Soludo’s anti-Igbo comments
A pan-Igbo socio-political group, the Igbo Youths for Positive Change, has berated the leadership of the Ohanaeze Youths Council for criticising the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, over his comments that all arrested “unknown gunmen” terrorizing Anambra were Igbo.
Soludo, during an interview on Channels TV recently stated that all arrested criminals terrorising Anambra were of Igbo extraction.
But the comments did not go down well with the President of the Ohanaeze Youths, Mr Igboayaka Igboayaka, who reportedly attacked Soludo, for “arriving at such conclusion”.
While reacting to the development in Awka on Tuesday, the National President, Igbo Youths for Positive Change, Mr Chinedu Obigwe, described Igboayaka’s attack on Soludo on the issue as a mere “careless talk” of a “busybody”.
Obigwe described Soludo’s comments on the matter as a “frank talk”, adding that the governor was not cut out to be economical with the truth.
He said Soludo spoke based on verifiable and authenticated information at his disposal.
He accused Igboayaka of being a sympathiser of the unknown gunmen that are now being dealt with by security agents.
He dismissed the attacks of the Ohanaeze youth leader on Soludo, saying that Anambra people are happy with the governor’s efforts at tackling the insecurity challenges in the state.
He said, “The last thing Soludo will do is to be economical with the truth, especially when the issue involved has to do with the security of lives and properties of ndi Anambra.
“The so-called Comrade Igboayaka that parades himself as the President of Ohanaeze Youth Council is only desperately looking for cheap popularity. He is obviously suffering chronic diarrhoea of the mouth ailment, hence his reason for delving into a matter he knows nothing about.
“As governor, what Soludo did during his appearance on Channels Television was to speak based on the verifiable and authenticated information at his disposal.
“He spoke the truth and that truth is that all those caught in Anambra State that masquerade to be unknown gunmen are Igbo.
“So what Igboayaka and his cohorts expected Soludo to do is to lie to the general public by claiming that the unknown gunmen terrorising Anambra State are not Igbo.
“Nobody solves a problem with lies. You can only solve a problem by revealing the truth.
“It is obvious that Igboayaka is among the sympathisers of the unknown gunmen that are now being dealt with by security agents because that is why he resorted to attacking Soludo for disclosing to the general public that many of those masquerading to be unknown gunmen caught by security agents are Igbo.
“Igboayaka is using the platform of Ohanaeze Youth Council to politicise the fight against insecurity in Anambra and Igbo land at large and he should be called to order.
“What he did must be condemned by sane minds because it is such attitude that fuels insecurity.
“When the heartless unknown gunmen were beheading people and terrorising the whole Anambra State, Igboayaka maintained a sealed lips but now that Soludo is winning the battle against insecurity and hitting the nail right on its head by disclosing the identity of those unknown gunmen, Igboayaka emerged from nowhere to be criticising him for saying the truth.
“As long as the good people of Anambra State are concerned, Governor Soludo is on the right track and they will continue supporting his administration commendable efforts to nip insecurity in the bud completely in Anambra State.”
