Entertainment industry may later became Nigeria’s biggest revenue – Orji Kalu

The call in recent times for government’s support for the entertainment industry got a further boost as the former Governor of Abia State Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has also lent his voice saying that the entertainment industry could be the biggest revenue earner for a Nigeria.

He stated this in Ugwueke, Bende LGA ,Abia State at a Christmas music festival organized by “Tuwantu Entertainment ” a record label and entertainment outfit in which Dr. Kalu was the special guest of honour.

The two time governor of Abia state and African pillar of sports said that Nigeria remains a Virgin land of untapped opportunities and one of them is the entertainment industry , with government support the sector is capable of solving Nigeria’s unemployment problem and can also become Nigeria’s major income earner.

He commended the efforts of the Nigerian entertainment practitioners most especially those in the music and film sector popularly known as Nollywood for their achievements. The Nigerian film Industry known as Nollywood has become the 3rd largest in the world and the recent big wins of the likes of Wizkid and Davido at the MTV base and MOBO awards has shown the entertainment sector has more that a lot to offer.

According to him so far with the efforts of individual entertainment practitioners the industry has been able to employ many most especially young people who majorly constitute the unemployed, the industry has also contributed over 1billion dollars to the GDP of the Nigerian economy and that if the government could focus its support the sector would achieve more.

The arrival of Dr. Kalu to the venue charged the crowd with excitement after which he thrilled the audience when he performed his popular indigenous gospel song on stage “Chineke Nke Igwe” ( God the King ) . Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu the international business man who also owns a record label OUK entertainment thanked the organiser of the event Mr. Chukwuemeka Jackel CEO of Tuwantu Music for his efforts in bringing such a show to the people of the area.

Recall that Tuwantu entertainment is a record label based in London and Nigeria with two artists “Afizze” and “Exnel” signed to its label. One of its artistes recently recorded a single with Kaycee .

Other guests present at the event where Mr. Johnson E. Chukwu who sponsored the show, his wife Mrs Johnson , Mrs. Ifunanya Kalu and a host of many others.
