Ekiti government warns workers against partiality
Ekiti workers have been urged to shun partisanship and every other unethical behaviour that have contributed to the denigration of the public service, as government would not hesitate to discipline erring workers no matter how highly placed or connected.
Abiodun Omoleye, Chief of Staff to the State Governor, who spoke through his Director of Administration, Dele Ogunsemoyin, sounded this warning at a one-day in-house training programme organised for workers of the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The Chief of Staff, who enumerated common unethical practices in the public service to include ignorance, god fatherism, political partisanship, corruption, religious fanaticism, get-rich-quick syndrome, laziness, nepotism and tribalism, noted that such behaviours have contributed, in no small measure, to ruining progressive career of many workers who have retire before time or exit the service unceremoniously.
He advised workers to acquaint themselves with the rules and regulations guiding the public service as this would prevent them from breaching or running afoul of any aspect of the rules and regulations.
The COS listed the ethical standard to be displayed by public servants to include transparency, accountability, honesty, diligence, dignity, conflict resolution, modest dressing amongst several others as clearly entrenched in the public service rules and regulations stressed that ignorance was not an acceptable excuse in the service.
