Disregard all forms of bribes and gratifications from politicians – Aregbesola

Osun state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola adjourn National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to forgo all kind of Political gratifications from politician.

Ahead of the September, 2018 governorship poll in Osun State, Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Thursday charged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), undergoing their one year mandatory service in the state not to succumb to inducements and gratification from some desperate politicians who might want to perpetrate electoral fraud and other forms of malpractices during the exercise

He said it was imperative on their part as adhoc staff, who would preside at polling centres as electoral officers to shun any act capable of tarnishing their individual reputation and integrity of the NYSC scheme

Aregbesola, who gave the charge, while declaring open the 2017 Batch Stream II, NYSC orientation programme, at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ede, Osun State averred that “I want to admonish you to eschew all forms of gratifications and inducement capable of marring the effectiveness and credibility of the collaboration between NYSC and INEC.

Represented by his Commissioner for Empowerment and Youth Engagement, Mrs Folake Adegboyega, the governor noted that Osun State is moving into a crucial period as the elections are around the corner, positing that corp members would be playing vital role in determining the substance of democracy, as the collaboration between INEC and NYSC would bestow on them responsibility of serving as adhoc staff during elections.

According to him, “since 2011, patriots like you have joined INEC in ensuring the conduct of free, fair and credible election in the country. I want you to re-calibrate your minds to live up to the good name built by your predecessors who have participated in similar processes in the past.
