David Silva and Pep Guardiola joke about defeating Manchester United for the tenth time
Pep Guardiola personally congratulated Manchester City legend David Silva on beating Manchester United yet again last week.
Silva started Real Sociedad’s 1-0 win at United last Thursday in their Europa League clash.
It was the attacking midfielder’s 21st game against the Red Devils, whom he has now beaten 10 times, nine of which while playing for the Citizens.
Following Sociedad’s victory, the La Liga side visited City’s training ground, which allowed Silva to revisit the club he called home from a decade and reunite with former teammates and his former manager Guardiola.
And the two Spaniards couldn’t help but laugh at United’s expense in an exchange captured by ManCity.com.
‘I wasn’t sure you were going to come by,’ Guardiola said upon embracing Silva.
‘Winning at Old Trafford again? Winning at Old Trafford again?!’

A jubilant Silva responded: ‘Yeah, another one!’
Along with the like of Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany, Silva is considered one of City’s greatest players of all-time, having helped usher in the club’s recent period of success.
The 36-year-old played 436 times for the club, scoring 77 goals, and making 140 assists, winning four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups, and was named City captain in his final season.
Speaking about the legacy he left at the Etihad and how the team has progressed since his departure in 2020, Silva said: ‘It’s generations, isn’t it?
‘We were the first set who were tasked with trying to change the situation the club found itself in. And now they are doing really well.
‘We all know the incredible work Pep is doing. The players are also very good. They have adapted very well.
‘They are always winning the league and fighting in Europe too. That’s the last thing left to do. Everything I was told when I arrived is in the process of happening.
‘They’ve started very well. [Erling] Haaland is scoring lots of goals, which of course is good for the team. He’s scoring in games where it’s hard to find a way through.
‘He’s a born goalscorer, we’ve seen it in his previous clubs too, and here I’m sure he will do even better.’
