Addressing newsmen at Birinin Tudu village of Bakura after sanitation programme to mark the 2018 World Toilets Day with the theme, When Nature Calls, Mrs. Anam noted that November 19 every year had been declared by the United Nations as a World Toilets Day, adding that the day would henceforth be devoted for awareness and inspiration to tackle the global sanitation challenges in the state.
The consultant explained that if anyone gets the feeling, the person should quickly rush to the toilet so as to prevent him or her from the effect of open defecations.
She said that within this year alone more than 45 communities have officially been recorded to be affected by cholera in only one local government.
She said the other 13 local governments has not yet recorded the official number of the cholera that is affecting the children in the state due to environmental challenges relating to open defecations, warning the people to desist from open defecations and ensure clean environments by providing pit toilets as well as ensuring that they keep the toilets very clean all the times.
