BREAKING: Kobe Bryant is Dead!

NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his oldest daughter, Gianna, were killed in a fiery helicopter crash in California.

The 41-year-old and his daughter were on their way to the Mamba Academy for a basketball practice when the private helicopter went down at around 10 a.m. PST.

TMZ later reported that Gianna did not survive the crash. She was 13.

Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli and his daughter were also killed in the crash.

Officials confirmed there were a total of nine people traveling in the helicopter and there were no survivors.

The helicopter carrying Bryant took off from Long Beach at 8:29 a.m PST on Sunday, then touched down again just eight minutes later in Orange County.

It is still unclear if this was to pick up more passengers or the helicopter was forced to land for other reasons.

The helicopter then took off again 30 minutes later at 9:06 a.m. PST but never reached its final destination.

The helicopter came down in what’s been described as very foggy conditions, crashing into Las Virgenes canyon, which is home to many celebrities.

It’s reported the helicopter crashed behind Kourtney Kardashian’s home.

Experienced LA helicopter pilot Phillipe Lesourd talked to The Sun about the weather conditions.

He said: “The visibility was so bad… The conditions were very, very poor.

“I flew with my wife last week and there was fog inside the Malibu Canyon and we turned around because there was no visibility. Today would have been even worse.

“When there is no visibility, when something happens you don’t see the ground coming.”

The experienced pilot continued to talk about the conditions in the last few days.

He said: “Even last night there were no LAPD helicopters because of poor visibility.

“I checked the weather this morning around the time of the crash and it was low visibility everywhere in Los Angeles.

“If I fly above the fog and my engine quits, or I have another problem and I have to land, I cannot see and everybody dies. So when I was there I just turned around the fog.

“When you have one problem in a helicopter you have to fix it because the second problem is going to kill you.

“So when you have bad weather you don’t push it because if something happens there’s very little space to maneuver.

“I’m sure this pilot would have known that area. But he must have got surprised. And that type of helicopter can travel up to 115mph.”

The Sun also listened to the dispatch call made after the crash.

Emergency dispatchers could be heard saying: “We do have one copter 300 yards east of this location. A chopper down. All units for assignment.”

Reports of a “small plane down with brush involved” were the first indication of the tragedy in Calabasas.

The City of Calabasas confirmed the news of the crash with a statement on Twitter.

They wrote: “This information is preliminary and subject to change.

“An S-76 helicopter crashed this morning under unknown circumstances near Calabasas, California.

“Local authorities say that five people were on board.”
