Andy Murray has secured his place in the third round of the US Open, with attention now turning to his next match in New York.

Murray beat American Emilio Nava 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 in round two, with the 2012 US Open champion seemingly in fine form at the start of the slam.

This is the first time that Murray has made the third round of a Grand Slam outside of Wimbledon since 2017.

Murray’s next match takes place on Friday, September 2.

The third round match will start at 5pm, and the game has been selected to take place on the Arthur Ashe stadium, which was the scene of Murray’s first Grand Slam title in 2012.

Who does Andy Murray play in the US Open second round?

Murray now faces a tricky tie against world number 14 Matteo Berrettini in the third round.

Berrettini missed this year’s Wimbledon due to a positive Covid-19 test, and was runner-up on the grass at last year’s tournament.

Murray and Berrettini have played each other three times on the tour, with Berrettini having a 2-1 record in his favour.
