“Alex Iwobi Will Excel Under Arsenal’s New Manager” – Ian Wright
Arsenal great Ian Wright has tipped Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi and other exciting young players in the club to excel under the new manager that will replace Arsene Wenger from next season.
Wenger took charge of his final Premier League home game as Arsenal ran out 5-0 winners against Burnley on Sunday to cement sixth position in the league table.
Iwobi was on target for Arsenal against Burnley, scoring the fourth goal in the 64th minute, his third league goal of the season.
January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac all scored for Arsenal.
Speaking as a pundit on Match of The Day 2, Wright who is Arsenal’s second highest goalscorer of all time (185 goals from 288 appearances) stated that the incoming manager will not find it difficult working with the club’s young talents.
“When you look at (Ainsley) Maitland-Niles, Iwobi, (Kostantinos) Mavropanos, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, if that’s all they’ve got (on Arsenal’s young players), I feel those players are good enough to go to the next level with somebody who is going to coach them and help them progress,” the 1998 Premier League winner with Arsenal said.
“Anybody that is looking to progress the players, young or old (manager), as long as they are ready to promote people from the academy like the boys I’ve just named.”
