Abia state alone cannot be able to build a standard Airport – commissioner

Abia State government through the commissioner for information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, has said that the state alone cannot be able to build a standard Airport.

This is as he said that the state is ready to cooperate with any private or non-private investors in establishing an Airport in the State.

It should be recalled that the previous government led by Theodore Ahmefula Orji has promised to invest in building a standard Airport in the state but to no avail.

Abia State as a well know industrial state is expected by many to have established such a welcomed development as an evidence to their industrialization.

Therefore, the present government of Abia State has promised to give full support to any investor .

During an online brief interview with the minister of information John Okiyi Kalu, he assured that the present government is ready to partner with any investor.

In his word he said:

‘’The present Government is ready to partner with investors wishing to build airport in the state and will definitely provide support for such a project’’

When asked if private individuals can also invest, he said:

‘’Private investors can invest on BOT basis to construct airports. That’s how MM3 was built in Lagos,” he added.
