JAMB Registrar Makes Shocking Revelation On 2018 UTME
Only 25.09 percent of candidates that sat for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scored above 200, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has said.
Oloyede made the disclosure at a Tuesday Policy Meeting in Gbongan, Osun State, which was attended by the State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Minister for Education, Adamu Adamu.
Giving a breakdown of the figure, the JAMB Registrar said it amounted to 414,696 out of 1,603,181 candidates that sat for the exam.
He added that 27 percent, which translated to 465,025 out of 1, 606, 374 candidates, scored above 200 in 2017.
Oloyede further disclosed that in the 2018 exam, 558, 673 candidates scored above 190; 739,490 above 180 and 956, 937 above 170 marks.
