Music Review: Small Doctor – Remember + DJ Skinny – Enter ft. HDesign, Ypee
Been a while we’ve heard a Small Doctor, but the feeling of hearing a new Small Doctor material doesn’t seem to put pesin in an ecstatic mode. But then, this Shocker beat is mad, and can get you on your feet.
“Omo aunty mi, I’m not lazy,” Small Doctor comes in. OK, maybe this is just an intro. What’s that “la so la so re re do,” by the way? Last time I heard an artist sing solfas was Ayefele.
The hook is creative, and the syncopation with the thick basslines, makes the thing a bit deeper. Will surely burst a speaker. “Shey you remember, yes sir,” with this I see the artist trying to experiment same call-and-response formulae he used on his 2017 hit, this year. It just makes the whole thing amazing.
But, small DOCTOR is forever small, he won’t ever forget to infuse nursery rhymes in his song. This “Remember” even seems like a song written for that, as seen on the artwork. Call the feeling you get listening to this “Nostalgic,” you won’t be far from the truth. It can really bring memories.
In a nutshell,
on “Remember,” small DOCTOR an acclaimed street artiste, goes in hard for the street, taking it through relatable rhymes from wayback. This Shocker-produced jam issa potential dance floor scatterer. But, it’s not yet December?

DJ Skinny – Enter ft. Ypee, HDesign & Bigshoe
DJ Skinny is a relatively “unknown” name in the industry, so to say, but watch out!, he might just be one of the few fast rising disc-jockeys doing this thing on a proper level. I know HDesign, I know Ypee, I suppose I know Bigshoe. So, even without listening, I suppose I know something hot is about to drop.
The beat by Bigshoe issa bang street, confam shaku-shaku instrumental. Surprisingly, the percussion is a bit heavy. The kicks are even heavier, as Bigshoe ‘mumbles’ some stuffs on the intro.
“Sho mo bi t’Enter wa? Ibo l’Enter wa//Sho ma chache? Mo ma chache,” this hook has a hunny (read: horny) shaku vibe. You’ll almost sing along, unknowingly. Short chorus, though.
HDesign, with his Fineboi voice. Did he say “Omo Ologo 4G”? The Royal, Quilox, Shrine reference is a plus for this verse. “Oya press Enter, awon temi da?” that hot chill vibe.
Amazing Ypee, is a singer. The vibe switches up as expected. The sauce he adds to the juice, is Enough to make the song spark. We’re done. After this hot verse, nothing should come after. Let’s just go to our papa house.
DJ Skinny for the strippers, he barely said his name, when we started hearing “Oloun Oloun.” They won’t even let him do like Jimmy Jatt oh?
The outro (or should I call it third verse) was swift, and sharp. No time to waste. As my bro will say, “the End l’opin Cinema!”
Not every DJ that’s been featuring Slimcase upandan, since the shaku
era began has been able to do something as impressive as this. You won’t only enjoy the street vibe, you’ll also take away. As for me I learnt; “ko si’run l’obo Ijapa joor.” (I dare not translate this in English.) Meanwhile, no school will teach you that!
